I need help my power steering on my 03 is starting to give me trouble. My truck just went out of the 3 year 36k warranty (36750). When the truck is hot the power steering will fade out and fade back in just as fast, this will happen most of the time at slow speeds and some times when i hit the brakes hard. The power steering box builds up pressure because when you take the dip stick out it makes a pop sound and my mech say that that is not right. There is plenty of fluid in there. A guy i know says to call dodge and see what they will do .

Mine does this too. Didn't know it was a problem...

At that mileage I'd take it in ASAP and if it needs a gear box or a pump ask for D. C. assistance due to age and mileage. You'll probably get it. But I would NOT prolong time on taking it in.

maybe its time for a fluid change and for a powersteering fluid cooler larger than the factory one... if they have them from the factory, i dont know. never looked.

put it might also be pump time.

I'll second the get it in now. I just payed 200 for a pump, then turned around and had to pay 200 on a new gear box (DC kicked in for the rest), at 37,800.

I posted yesterday about losing power steering and brakes, this must be a common problem? I have 35,800 miles, just before the 3/36! Hopefully Chrysler won't hassle me about replacing the bad parts!

Theres a power steering cooler in my. Its between the intercooler/ aftercooler and the radiator near the bottom. You can see if you look under your front bumper.
