I have had the stealer replace my steering gearbox once under warranty about 6000 miles ago. Well it's leaking again! The last time the tech put his knee into my radiator I guess it;s time to have it done again.
I have the same problem except mines out of warranty. I purchased a rebuild kit from Straightline steering and installed it last night. No JOY! The shaft had a gouge in it. I put the new seals in anyways hoping for the best. Didn't work but did make a nice puddle under the truck. Getting a reman from Advance Auto tomorrow for $239. Same price as Napa but lifetime warranty. Napa only gave an 18 month warranty. If it leaks later who cares, I can change one out in 30 minutes now!
One of the vendors "Enterprise" I believe, sells a "bombed" steering gear. Thier was a recent thread about steering gears and some positive input on this "beefed-up" steering gear box from Enterprise.
PS: Found the thread. Goto page 5 in this same forum and look for the thread title "2002 steering box" and read what Hemi-dart has to same about the steering gear from Enterprise Engine. If I was more computer savy I would have posted the link for you to click on to take you directly to the thread.
PPS: You might also want to read the thread on pg 2 title "loose steering box fix".
