Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Power supply

Have ordered fuel pressure gauges etc from Geno's and have the plumbing figuered out but would like to know where is the best place to tap into electrical for good clean installation on the 2002.

Need power for sending unit and gauge lights. (After ignition switch)

I used the cigarette lighter plug leads (The upper one) since it only works when the ignition is on.

I also use cigarette lighter plug for switched power and even for lighting the gauge. Easy access to it.

Cigaret lighter good idea. I should have thought of that cause that what I used on my old truck.

For lighting i used the Brown wire coming from the headlight switch assembly. Its right below the A Pillar and this way your gauge lights wont be lit during the day which will prolong the bulb life.

I started looking top access the cigaret lighter and it is buried. Looks like the only way to get to it is remove bezel cluster and fold down cup holder unless I can figuer out which wire it is. Got the manual so maybe the wiring diagram will show it.

Look in your fusebox by the door. You can find another switched source and just tap in at the fuse box if dissasembling your entire dash is not as much fun as it seems (Trust me, its not).

Happy days. When all else fails, read the instructions. Manual shows how to remove lighter. Now if I can just find my snap ring pliers.

As mentioned, fuse box is the nest good idea. Humm, head light switch-careful not to pick up wire with dimmer. That would make gauge go crazy
