I have a 1 ton with a steal bed. It weighs about 8200lbs. I have been running the comp for about a year and have just recently added the 275's. My stock cluch is holding fine, it does not give any indication of haveing trouble with the power.

I know the more weight you have, the more power it takes. I am not seeing the power that I am wanting to. Is it just because I am so heavy? If this is the case shouldnt my clutch slip easier?

I think my box is working fine, on level one it runs ok, but on level five it does not seem to have much more power but the Egt's max out and my boost climbs higher. I just cant feel the power improvement. I really could not tell the power improvement when I put my 275s in. My milage did'nt go up either. Still getting about 14 straight across.

I am thinking about going to DD 2's, will this get my power up there? I am sure it will take a 40 turbo to keep from getting hot and it should take a new clutch right? This little plan will only cost about $2800 or so. It will be a while before it gets done just for that reason.

Bottom line, am I expecting to much? or is it a lost cause because of its weight? I need more power and more speed, what do I need to do?

My truck weighs on a good day at least 8200 lbs and it moves pretty well but doesn't give the "seat of the pants" feel that a lighter truck would with the same power I have. No matter how much power you have a heavy truck is still just that, heavy.

Do you have the sub levels set up? is it on 5X5? There should be a major difference between level 1 and 5 regardless of lbs. When I first got my comp that replaced an ez I wondered if it was working, but I found out you have to mash the throttle and drive more aggressively to make the power and smoke.

The 275's are not a huge power adder, I felt mine more in the top end when I had them.

Try getting on a dyno to see if you are making close to the hp that the mods should make before adding more hp that might make the (possible) problem worse.

Good Luck

Craig
