Well I don't think I can resist the urge to get a little more power out of my 2001, 4wd, Automatic, 4:10 truck. I use my truck every day for commuting but also tow with it regularly. I installed gauges last year and have developed a baseline as follows:
EGT (Post Turbo): 450-550 around town, sometimes in the 600-700 when towing, I think the highest I ever saw was 850.
Boost: Rarely hits above 16-18.
transmission Temp: 135 to 145 around town, 160-170 towing, highest was 190.
Fuel Pressure: around 14 at idle, 10 during my normal acceleration, 5 or 6 if I really step on it.
Are these number reasonable. What are the max's and Mins that I should look out for. I am now thinking about the Esge EZ box. I just can't afford to do any transmission upgrades at this time. Is this a good choice? Am I putting my transmission in jeapordy? Is there an intermediate transmission upgrade I could do that would help without dropping $2000-$3000? Also, what about buying a used box. I would think someone out there is looking to upgrade. Is this a bad idea?
Thanks for the help!
