My front passenger window suddenly stopped working in the down position. No warning, no slowing down of the window, just stopped working. The driver side window lock is not engaged so that's not the problem. Fuses are okay. The other 3 windows work just fine. Any clues?

I had this happen to all of my windows except the driver window. The fix for me was replacing the switch unit in the drivers side door. There was a loose connection in there somewhere so it was just as easy to replace the entire unit than figure out exactly where the problem was.

Is this common on 04' models as well? my truck is doing it intermittently now on the passenger door and a buddy of mines 02' has the same problem.

power window problem...intermittent now

So check this out: I live in Las Vegas. I keep my truck in my garage which has a swamp cooler (humidifier cooler common in the dry West). We use it to keep our whole house cool. So my truck spends most of its time in the garage and, in summer, with the swamp cooler going. All four windows in the truck are down to let the cool air blow through and into our house.

SO, I backed my truck out last week and let it sit in the sun. I had an appointment scheduled for the next day to take my truck to the dealer to fix the passenger front window. About 4 hours after sitting in the hot Vegas sun, I jumped in my truck to go to a friend's house and just for grins, I tried the power window from the driver side control. It rolled up! I can only conclude that the heat caused some sort of expansion at the contacts.

But wait, it gets better. Yesterday I rolled the same window down a crack and then it wouldn't roll back up. So I hit the driver side arm rest (where the controls are) with the meating side of my fist... just a light pop, not super hard. And when I tried the window again, it rolled up.

So now my conclusion is that the contact points, however they're connected, are somehow loosening. Or perhaps it's just the control module. I figure that ultimately I'll have to replace the whole driver side control unit but at least I'll start there and not have the dealer waste time trying to figure it out @ $90/hour.

Thanks, all!

My passenger side window switch stopped working (could still operate the window from the driver side). I suspect it was due to lack of use (I almost always drive alone).

I figure moisture gets into the switch over time, and if you don't clean out the corrosion by actuating the switch occasionally, it eventually builds up on the contacts until they don't conduct anymore.

The switches are expensive! I swapped the switch from the passenger side rear door instead of buying a new one.

That's a good idea. I'm same as you: almost always drive alone.
