I doubt it would be too hard to do, but somebody brought up the safety issues of having it that way. My son is 5 so I will probably leave it alone for now.

I don't know if it is much different for you third gen guys or not , but you might be able to get something out of this.

search the threads I read it someplace and it also shows a couple of photos. It's in the readers rigs section on the first page but I ca'nt remember which rig sorry. Oo.

I looked into it briefly. The power window circuit breaker is under the dash near the electric brake plug. You could rig it up so it's always hot. It won't be quite as easy as the 2nd gen but it looks like it could be done. If I was to do it I thinks it would take the following: Remove the circuit breaker from it's socket, add a hot wire from the battery (rather than tapping into another circuit of our sensitive electrical system) to the breaker, make a short jumper to go from the breaker back to the wiring harness, strap it all up somewhere under the dash.

I don't know of anyone who has done it yet. I have small kids so I'm going to leave mine as it is.

Just the remote possibility of having a child getting caught up would keep me from messing with it:(

Thanks for the comments, I had not thought of small children, we do not have any now as our boys are fully grown, but someday may have grandkids. Would really hate it if that caused the injury of a any small child. Think I will leave well enough alone.

Thanks for your responses

On my '99, I installed a momentary pushbutton switch on the door switch panel, with a relay under the dash that would energize the power window circuit breaker directly from the battery. This way, the windows can be operated without the key, but only from the driver's door. You have to hold down the pushbutton with one finger, and operate the window switches with the other.
