[FONHave 2000 Ram 2500 series truck. Power windows only operate in the "run" position. Dumb idea from Dodge. Anyone know how to rewire so that windows will op in run and in ACC positionT=Courier New]undefined[/FONT]undefined

rekabeka,

I didn't do the acc thing, but I did jump the fuses in the fuse box so that the windows used the power from the power seat. The windows are now always hot. Both fuses are the same size. I have a power seat and the trade off is that the power seat is only on with the key now. I can get a picture if you like. Just let me know.

Don't blame Dodge for that one. That is a federal requirement for child safety.

Those of you who have bypassed this feature, grab your wallet real tight if heaven forbid you ever leave a child in your truck.

Or how about your dog? My dog always jumps up on the door to look outside. Not hard to imagine a head stuck out window, a paw on door panel, and oops, one strangled child or dog.

John is DEAD right on his reply. There was a topic on TV just a short time ago. Seems the foreign cars have a child proof switches on theirs.

Bypass the switch,NO

So that means the kids will be able to run it while the adults will not know how to run it

Thanks for all the good news AND the bad news. I would just as soon have the windows work in the RUN and ACC position and not hot all the time.

I can understand the safety aspects of this problem, especially with small children.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it all.

I know that the Ford Taurus of a couple years ago ('99) specifically would allow all power windows to operate with the key in run position. It would also allow them to run with the key in the off position after turning the key from Run to Off, until the driver door was opened. Once the driver door was opened, it had to be turned back to run again for the windows to operate.

Was kind of neat.
