yes, but if you haven't blown that HX35 at 46. 4psi, you'll blow it pretty quick after taking the plate out! LOL!

(why are you running that much boost on an HX35? )

there's the whole breaking a pin issue which has been highly debated... and i still don't know who's right

you'll have more power, but you'll also be dumping fuel too late into the cumbustion cycle... which makes it smoke on the top end (excessive--obviously not making power). so essentially your truck wont stop smoking if you're above 3/4 throttle if you run without a plate. you will get more power midrange though, but like forrest said, take care of that boost with a boost elbow. that turbo WILL blow at 46psi... just a matter of time.

seems like you're ready to step up to a bigger turbo! Oo.

FWIW, I wouldn't pull the plate... just take a stock plate and grind it flat even w/ the top plate.

also, what injectors are you running? w/ a 215 pump, 370's and a #6 plate full forward, I could only get 42psi on the stock turbo. I ran it at 35psi.

I actually took my#11 out last night for a little experimentation. It seemed to run quite a bit better :-laf and it did smoke a LOT! I only drove it for about 5 minutes, then took it home and put the 11 back in. I dont want to risk breaking the pin. I talked to Joe Donnelley about this briefly a while back, and he said dont do it. So I am gonna listen to what he has to say.

Just my . 02c.

Oh yeah, I also could not get any more than about 43psi with the plate out. Stock 215 injectors, boost elbow closed. Even 43 psi was alittle scary to me with my stock 35! I bet the drive pressure is pretty high running 46psi on a 35!

Forrest,

I actually got a stocker that I am going to grind into a #108 like you sent me a picture of in the email. Then when I go twins, I'll make a #0 out of it. Your twins are lookin nice! is that a B-2 bottom?

by the way, thanks for all the help you gave me!

i ground my stock one flat when i had my stock pump. just remember... you'll probably have to do the lever adjusment if you want to run high rack travel. . as the arm will go underneath the plate and into the "no plate" zone.

So the majority of the input I'm getting here is to leave it alone, well that just what I'm going to do. I didn't the plate removal would make that kind of differance. Right now I don't need to blow up my turbo and I think you guys are right, anything more that 46psi is insane. I think I've pushed it enough and one day sooner or later I think its going to push back. I'm going to leave it alone.

I got to tell you guys, back in Utah I can only accomplish 42psi and in Delaware managed to accomplish 46. 4psi boost. I did this by winding out 4th going into 5th on a freeway entrance. I can't do this every time the most I can get is 44. 1psi, but that one day set my record 46. 4psi... I think 46. 4psi is respectable on a hx35 and that why I put it on my signature.

My hat goes off to good inputs, Thanks guys! the best thing I ever did for my truck was joining TDR!

ps Whats the the whole breaking a pin issue mean?

let's see... you're overspinning the turbo... causing accelerated wear on the bearings and shaft... running the compressor far outside of its efficency range, which overheats the intake charge, so you're not making any more power... in fact, you're LOSING power by overspinning it so hard... and your drive pressures inside the exhaust manifold have to be through the roof, which is bad for head gasket life...

I was being gentle when I said certifiable... I really meant laughable...

enjoy,

Forrest
