having problems with my powersteering, it's blowing fluid back out of the cap when it shuts off, so i replaced pump and still doing the same thing. didn't notice problem until after i replaced the steering box.
 
This is usually caused by air in the system. Jack up the front of the truck and cycle the steering lock-to-lock with the engine off. Do this several times. Then repeat with engine on. Jacking it up helps relieve some of the pressure required and keeps air from getting entrained in the fluid.
 
Also prevents dry steering.



But yes, that sounds like an air lock. Be sure to top up fluid after. You should see it go down after a few minutes. May also hear the PS pump complain for more fluid during this. Might need to top it up and keep going... .

When you start it, you'll want the fluid a bit overfull. It will suck that oil down soon after and you'll want to top-off right away.
