Competition Powerstroke horsepower?

What lind of #s can a ford put up with a good turbo, chip, and some decent (70) hp injectors, and propane. A guy that lives around me has a 98 like this and I,m curious what he might have at the "stock" truck pull. P. S Hes got a auto.

My 2000 is doing 419 RWHP and the 97 is doing 373 both #2 only. '97 has the stock turbo, just a chip air intake, exhaust and injectors. 2000 has a slightly modified turbo, injectors, chip and air intake.

They can fly if they are tuned good, with a little propane 500 is not too hard.

yeah, we have 2 customers locally, and others abroad that blew theirs, but they are mostly in the 450+ range. Those powered metal rods are poop.

About 1 hour southeast of St Louis. The guy I'm talkin about has a black powerstroke with a Bunch of Case IH stickers and his equipment dealership stickers all over it. I'd like to run into ya' at a couple pulls. PM me if you know of a good one coming up. Summers here!

WTF is up with all these powdered metal rods entering into the scene all of a sudden?



This is one area of an engine I would NOT try to cut costs on... .



Lower reciprocating mass is good, but you have to leverage that against strength/durability..... but, the proof is in the pudding. I won't moan about the ISBe's PM rods until one eats itself... .



By comparison, the good 'ole 6BT's rods have been VERY durable... .

PM rods are a bit week but in 00 and 01 they were still makeing motors with the forged rods in May of 01 they started producing PSD motors with PM rods but only 50K of them ever hit the market. In 02 they did go to the PM and went a way with the forged rods for good,

We have seen few trucks this year running in the high 400's and low 500's with just #2, Its not going to be to long before the PSD will be running in the hi 500's or low 600's on just #2. New advancements have been made on how the fuel is delivered and how the HPOP is holding 4000PSI at 4500RPM's and yes the PSD will run at those rnumbers with ease.

PSD owners now have a choice on cams (2) of them which a year ago there weren't any, We have a choice on studded heads and bottom griddles with studs, differant heads are now availible for the PSD, High flow intake manifolds, headers are coming soon, and a differant clutch fan set up, Turbos are now availble also which a year ago you only had a couple of choices to choose from

IMO its only a matter of time before someone will have some serious HP in a PSD

We are currently building another motor with some of these goodies and some extra's on top of that, Our goal is to see 650HP to 700 flywheel #2 but still streetable,, I know I know NO WAY right well maybe and then maybe not, But its always worth a try.

I hope the PSD makes some decent power..... afterall, it still runs on #2 and I'm a huge fan of anything that runs on #2.

AND on POWDERED METAL rods. BMW has used these for some time now -I assume they still are, and BMW makes some swEEEEET gassers. But then they're gassers and maybe PM rods can handle that better than #2.

Yeah... not many gassers run 50psi, nor do they last for 1,000,000 miles.

Running a whole lot less compression so a whole lot less cylinder pressure too. That's okay, there'll be some new rods out for the PSD in a few months
