Guys and Gals,
I’m usually not one to open up like this, but recent circumstances have compelled me to do so.
Back in March of 2003, my Dad was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. After a pretty hefty regime of chemo, he went in for his scan and there was good and bad news. Good news was the cancer in the chest was gone, but it had metastasized to the brain.
A few months and few chemo/radiation treatments later, he had another scan that showed the cancer in his brain was gone. Great news.
He was taken off chemo in preparation for his final Petscan with hopes that it was all clear and the cancer had gone into remissions. Last weekend he was admitted in the hospital with a bad cough. Turn out the cancer didn’t go away, it just moved again. It’s now in his right lung and his liver.
His doctor is still very optimistic that he will beat it this time around and we are still behind him 110%, but it’s very heartbreaking to see someone that special to you go through all that he’s gone through and have to go through it again. It’s taking its toll on him as well. He’s not as strong as he was the first time around and he needs all the help he can get this time.
I’m asking as many folks as I can to pray for him and the rest of the family to help us through this. It’s hard on everyone, but especially hard on my sister who lives out of state and feels that she can’t be here for him. We need help beating this again so he can do the things that he loves to do. It would mean the world to me to be able to take a nice long motorcycle ride with him again. Hopefully, that will happen.
