I just changed the Pre-Filter Screen and gasket and come up with a way not to get a face full of fuel. I loosened the nut or housing and then I slipped a zip lock bag over the bowl and took it off by hand. Any of the fuel that drained out, when right in the bag instead of in my face.
Give the bowl a good cleaning and filled it up with clean fuel and put it back. I was so proud of my self, I think I strained a muscle patting myself on the back #ad

Rick, too bad you have a five speed, I was thinking maybe you could figure out a way not to take a bath in AFT when reoving the transmission pan. #ad

Rick;

Sounds great. I hear that other have similar luck with a baggie while doing the fuel filter change to avoid the driveway wash... .

I was thinking of driling hole in the trany pan to drain fluid before unbolting. The hole would get enlargened and then plugged with a pan plug kit from friendly auto parts store. <small>(BTW, Dixie cup on drill will catch fluid and chips)</font>.

Bill;
Nice icon. Should we call you iconflem? when does apple season start pulling you off the 'puter & back in the fields?

LOL

John, pulling is the right word. I just finished pulling my last apple trees last week. Tired of losing my retirement money in a industry that has no future. Land is now bare and for sale along with 60% of the other apple growers in WA. The economy around here is in the toilet and many folks leaving the area. I could retire, but feel like I'm too young. Went in for an interview for a possible next occupation this week, Hydro-Electric Dam Operator, requires 6000 hours of on the job training. Lots of competition for this one, if it doesn't plan out I'm hooking the Ram up to the trailer and will travel. #ad

2 songs come to mind: "Another One Bites the Dust" and "There goes the Little Man"

See my message on this board titled "No mess trans fluid change".
I use a small hand pump simular to a boat bilge pump and pump the fluid out from the dip stick tube. You pump out about 4 quarts.
Taking down the pan is a snap with no oil in
your face.
