Here's the deal everyone, is it really necessary?

I am trying to weigh the pros with the cons. The only reason I can think of for pre-registering is to get a t-shirt and pay with your credit card. I started a company (DieselSPort Promotions) to handle Thunder in Muncie and the credit card service is salty. I will be more than happy to do it, but I wanted some input first.

Most of the pulls/drags around here you pay at the gate. The Dragway won't do the pre-registration because it confused them so dang bad last year.

If we handed out a t-shirt voucher for the first so many that show up, and you could redeem it and get your show-n-shine/vendor ballots at Dave's Diesel's booth, would that be sufficient? For the few that did pre-register last year, what was the reason and could you go without the pre-registration?

The only reason I can see for preregistration is to have a count as to actual participants.

Some of the events, like May Madness and others do it so they have the proper amount of shirts, in the proper size, goodie bags, food etc. i know from helping at some of these that a lot of money is needed ahead of time, and pre registering provides that cushion. Once you pay that out of pocket and not enough people show, you are out of luck.

pre-registration

I pre-registered last year and will again this year. Why? So I am sure to get a goodie bag and so no one gets screwed if not enough people show up to cover the up-front costs of an event of this size. Where do I send my check?:)

credit card vs check

So if I didn't have a way for you to pay with a credit card, that would be okay???? I will start with that and if I get an incredible amount of people wanting to use their credit cards, then I will pursue that avenue. Registration form soon to follow.

Check would be fine

I see no problem in sending a check out. I pre-registered for Scheid's, but the t-shirt (with the vinyl graphics on the back) that was included,is too hot to wear. :( :( Looking forward to Muncie

Don't let John kid you. He loves that shirt. He likes to sweat while he drives his truck. :D :p

I have no problem sending a check, or registering on site. If you want pre-registrations, there should be some incentive - either a free t-shirt or a discount, etc... - something to make people want to register early. I was surprised to find that the Scheid pre-registration really wasn't any cheaper than registering on site. Had I known that, I would have registered on site and not bought the sweaty back t-shirt.

that's my point

That's what we are doing, pre-registration will get you a t-shirt. No credit cards, only checks. I am almost done proof reading the registration, I'll have it for everyone soon.
