Please do not tell our local DOT about the super chemical, they are just useing salt water on our roads, once a week wether they need to or not. We can always tell when it is going to get "bad" out, they stripe the road and then it rains! The last time they striped it it had not been below 32 degrees in 4 days and the forcast called for light rain and 34 degrees. Well I guess you have to get it out of inventory.

I worked for ODOT for four years over the summer while I was going to school and that material is brine. It is supposed to be put on before it freezes. It is a pre-snow treatment. If you get it on the roads before it snows then it aides in the removal of the snow once it is there.

that material is brine

Brine is just a generic term meaning a salt and water solution.

For example many foods are soaked in a brine in preparation for storage, smoking (they won't light while wet ;) don't even go there), pickling, etc.

It's the term "salt" that can mean several compounds/chemicals.

It can also refer to an old sailor and Tug and I don't need any of those comments please. GREENLEAF that means you!!:-laf
