evening everyone,

is anyone using a module by the name of preditor in their cummins?( mine is a 2003 3500 duallie) just happened to catch an episode of "2 guys garage" and they dyno'd a cummins before and after at about 90 ft lbs of torque and 70-80- HP increase just by adding the module. it looked like there was just one plug connection to make... pretty simple i thought for the reported gains. . any thoughts or issues to be made aware of ?,

thanks guys,

steve

I also happened to watch that "2 Guys Garage" episode. IMHO the "2 Guys Garage" show comes off as one big "infomercial" hawking the products of sponsors obviously paying for endorsements. I've never heard anyone criticize a product on their show. Makes me very skeptical about any of their recommendations. I often wonder if they are simply reading the scripts written by their sponsors/advertisers. Sorry, but I know nothing about the predator they were pushing and they didn't really inspire me to follow-up on it either.

xtreem3d - A LOT of people on this site trash products they have never ran - Unless they pay for said product and use the product I dont think they should say a thing - Dr. P - or Predator get a bad rap here.

I have used the stage one - bought it when my edge Ez went to **#T - By the way I ran my ez on level six all the time - put the little predator on - only one connection - to fuel. - I honestly for seat of the pants feel thougt the predator pulled as good or better than the ez on 6. This module pulls very strong ;)

Dollar for dollar the predator was the cheapest and best bang for the buck I have used yet. - I seen the stage one dyno = 78 HP on an so. No codes also.

On a quest for more power I went to a bigger module - then the tst - then stacked the tst with the Quad box. And now have stacked the predator with the tst - thinking that the predator only fuels it would be a good combo - I was wrong the predator and the tst is an EXCELLENT combo:cool:

Do some research, if you can try the module or modules before you buy

Dont take my word or anyone elses

I do, I had one in my 04/550 until DC bought it back. And now have one in my 04. 5/600. It will put you in the back seat when you floor it. As for mpg before 13-14 and with it 17-18 mpg and thats Hwy. The dealor I bought it from let me pay a deposit and try it 30 day and I could keep it or return it and get my deposit back. As for towing I don't pull much weight 3-4k thats all.

Go to this page on the Predator site:

http://www.predatorpower.com/dodge.htm

At the bottom you'll see the video link for thr Predator install. Also, some dyno runs from, what I think, is an '02; pretty small, so hard to see. When the viewer starts, click on the link that says 'click here to view in your default Media player'. If that doesn't work (it didn't on my PC), then click your RIGHT mouse button anywhere in the media player window and select 'Play' from the list displayed.

You guys with the predators, which stage did you buy, their website lists 3 different stages, how about egt how is that running.

I have the stage 2 - 85 hp Predator module that I got when i let the Predator rep dyno my truck against the Edge EZ. It dynoed 10 hp more and has no surging and the egt's are identical. All in all I think it's an excellent product. Hope this helps -John

hi guys,

i'd like to know if it's safe to assume that if your EGT's rise will your water temp rise also? i don't have any aftermarket stuff on my truck yet so i have no idea what my EGT's would or will be w/ a module,

thanks,

steve

jgasglow...

i see in your signature that you have guages listed on the pillar, who makes such a clean setup AND most importantly how hard was it to install the EGT guage?

You can buy the a pillar and gauges from Genos as far as the install it was pretty straight foward,my truck was the first one I had every done and I guess it took me about 3 hours . The instructions were very good and I didn't run into any problems. there are some pictures in my readers rig. hope this helps,

John

Did anybody notice the crappy baseline dyno run on the Cummins 600? I realize that all the OEM's play a numbers game, and that horsepower/torque numbers are quoted at the crank (i. e. , not SAE NET HP/TQ, which acounts for all losses in the powertrain). Despite this, the numbers Sam/Dave got were an embarassment. It took the Predator box just to get the thing close to the published numbers.

30 day money back guarantee and a lifetime limited warranty this box can't be all that bad if they are willing to stand behind it that well. I just priced them at Jegs. Pretty reasonable. All though only time will be its true test of reliability and durability.

How much did JEGS ask for the Predator? Thanks, Doc

Predator Stage II

I purchased a Predator Stage II about 6 months ago from the dealer. It definately added a noticable seat of the pants feel. I have about 24k miles on the truck and no problems other than keeping my foot out of it so I stay below redline. I seen only a slight mileage increast of 1-2 mpg. I currently average 20. 9 in mixed driving. On the open road, unloaded I've seen about 25. 8. I'm satisfied with the product.

How are your exhaust temps with the Predator 2? I tow a 8500 lb. trailer and I'm thinking of buying a Predator 2 but I'm concerned about EGTs.

I demo'ed a Stage III. It adds tons of low end and pulls through the whole RPM band. EGTs climb pretty quick, even when empty. I hit almost 1200* just accelerating to 75 MPH from a stop empty. Drivability is OK.

I much prefer the the VA C3. 1 as a good all around box for those who tow. It has the best drivability of all I've tried so far. The VA is not the box for racing.

100 Proof

To be honest I am flying by the seat of my pants. I have not put guagues on yet. According to the mfg. guages aren't necessary, but nonetheless I plan to get them soon. All I can tell you is that I have used it for probably upwards of 6mos. I have a 6K lb travel trailer that I just hauled to FL and back from Tx. No problems.
