I have spent the last two hours looking for information on what wheels will work on 3rd gen 3500 single rear wheel trucks. I searched TDR and found that the correct backspace is around 6", 42-45mm positive offset. I can't find any wheels with a 6" backspace for sale. I see a lot of custom wheels on local trucks, but I'm pretty sure they are not the correct backspace. I did find a reference to Weld wheels Cheyenne 878-785950. It is not listed on the Weld web page. I will call them on Monday morning to see if it is still in production. So what are you all putting on your trucks?

Walker Evans

Walker Evans offers a 17 x 8. 5 w/6" backspacing. They're $325 without fake beadlock ring. Series 32 street wheel. Centerline lists 6" backspacing wheels for us also.

XD offers some as well... I got the 17x9 with 5. 73" backspacing, but I think they're also offered in 6. 10" backspacing.

how about wheels that actualy meet the payload of some of the tires that we use. For instance my 285s are rated at 3750 but I have yet to see a 17" wheel that is near that rating and there are 18s that are just shy of 4k

I guess my question is why get a wheel that's only . 5" wider when the stockers are high quality, correct weight rating, correct backspacing, etc.

For me its a valid reason (or 3) and probably is for the original poster.

I run my stock wheels & tires in the summer, and needed something else for winter.

I like the looks of my aftermarket wheels. They were alot cheaper than trying to get stockers, new or used.

They are also easier to clean, dont get scratched by just looking at them, dont collect brakedust like stockers, and will keep the original tires around longer, which are more expensive for me to replace.

That doesn't surprise me. They're made in China now. Where did you get that figure? I'm trying to talk my friend out of them.
