I noticed BigSaint is using one of the Earl's filters, either the bronze or screen element. Has anyone used one of the paper element filters? I believe that Mallory has one along with Aeromotive, and some others. Does this paper element stand up to diesel, I know they work great for gas. Since the -8 fittings will soon be done it's time to gather all the parts for mounting the pump near the tank to help the VP44. Thanks

I just ordered a Racor 645R30 to put in front of the Mallory 140 that I am going to install back by the tank. The Racor is just over 8. 46" tall and will filter 45 GPH of fuel, also has a water seperator.

Earl's makes a in line screen filter and a sintered bronze filter in -8AN, that will work if you want to go that route. I removed my Earl's -6AN and replaced it with a -8AN screen filter when I upgraded to the braided lines. The bronze element is rated down to 35 microns, the screen to 40 microns and both flow at 5-6 GPM. I spoke with Century Performance in regards to the Mallory pre-filter and they didn't recommend it as it's designed for gas use. The only downfall I can see when using a Earl's filter is when you are trying to tap into rubber fuel line. I tried it with the -6AN filter and with so many %%$% fittings on it , I got disgusted and just bought some braided line for a cleaner install.

Here's a pic of the Earl's in line to the Mallory with the new line, I'm going to swap out the rest to braided on Friday.

Here's a pic from inside the frame rail. I probably should have run the -8AN all the way to the tank, but the stock hardline was already cut and the -8AN fit over it just snug enough that two hose clamps completed the task with less hassle.
