Last night I stopped by Cummins NW to pickup a fuel filter and prefilter screen for the '95. Both counter guys didn't know of any existing screen kit,so I gave them the number I copied from somewhere here on the board... p/n 38454000-US. The guy says this part number is no good. Anyone have any success buying one lately from Cummins, and possibly a p/n that's good?

It just so happens that I just got off teh phone with Cummins West(559)277-6760, and they say that the part number is 38454000-s.
The number you gave them is all correct execpt the 'u' needs to be removed.

Mike,

My "Customized Parts Catalog" from Cummins shows the Fuel Strainer as Part #3847102. It appears that is for the entire assembly; not just the screen. Maybe the Cummins dealer can use that number to find a breakdown listing for you.

Hope this helps.

I went to my local dodge dealer to pick up just the rubber seal. The fuel strainer is sold as a complete unit only. Charged me $38. 00 for the part. A real rip off. I found out if you don't over tighten the housing you can re-use the rubber seal many times. I am up to my fifth cleaning of the fuel screen. I do it every 9,000 miles with a new fuel filter.

I am holding one right now in my hand i bought today from cummins southwest. 384540000 s. in a Fleetguard envelope. 3 pieces screen, d-ring, and nut. Ray
