illflem: I did a search on preoilers and a few months back you indicated you had a preoiler but had not installed it. Have you installed it? If so, how is it working? Did you tap into the top of the oil filter housing?



If you have already reported on it can you give me a reference? The search did not turn up anything on the installation/report.

OK, thanks for the response. I am not sure if I want to do this or not. My truck sits quite a bit and the product seems to be a good idea. I guess the price is the determining factor.
 
Jammar, if I was in your situation, I'd wire in a switch to your fuel cutoff solenoid so you can crank your engine without turning on the fuel. Then you can spin it over 15 seconds or so and get the oil circulating before firing it up. It would save the potential problems of plumbing and underhood space with an oil reservoir.



This is something Cummins recommends.



Me, my truck rarely sits more than 24 hours without being fired up :D

Isn't the engine still turning the same amount of revs dry cranking without starting only slower than just starting it? I've always heard that the no start system wasn't really worth much.
 
Vaughn: A switch to the fuel cut-off solenoid is a work around. However. I agree with illflem in that the engine is still being rotated for a short time with out oil, although not under load.



Part of my hesitancy to install anything is the risk of a ruptured rubber oil line yet I do think there is increased wear on the engine when it starts after sitting for a few days.



I also wondered if the storage bottle would lose its air charge over time. I think the air charge will be lost and there is no designed way to add air except to disconnect and invert the bottle.



Is there anyone on the TDR with experiences that can shed some light on this potential problem?
