I have a 16ft flatbed tandem axle utility trailer with a treated wood floor. The orginal color red has faded out quite a bit an I've been thinking about re-painting it black. I would like to strip all the old paint off as much as possible, would sand blasting be the best bet to do this,or a chemical application an maybe using a high pressure washer that I could borrow real easy. I have never had any thing sand blasted before an have no idea what the cost would be. I'm not going for any kind of show quaility paint job, just want it to stick good an not start peeling off first time at the car wash.

Thanks, for any Replies

Find someone that can blast it with soda... . Sand, silca will leave some problems... . where soda will take the paint off and won't do much damage to the bear steel, and if you get the trailer back in a few hours after the job you can apply an epoxy primer that will seal it up... . mind you... you touch the bear metal with your fingers and the oil in your hands will leave a mark... In some cases those that soda blast will put a epoxy primer on the metal for you for a reasonable fee... .

I had mine blasted & galvanized for under $400 total.

I had to completely strip it & haul it on another trailer. That was 8 years ago & I don't think I'll ever have to worry about it again :)
