body swap from 97 to 01 frame

im getting redy to buy a few guages for the upcoming swap. what oil pressure does the 4bt run at?water temperature?how much boost out of stock H1C?

also anybody know if the speedometer on the NV4500 is mechanical or electrical?is govenor at 3200RPM?what fuel pressure does it run at?what range volt guage should i get?thanks

From the Cummins Shop manual and Certification Levels:

Minimum allowable oil pressure at idle is 10psi.

Minimum allowable oil pressure at rated speed is 30psi.

Regulating valve opening pressure is : 65psi for up to 1994

75psi 1994 and later.

Thermostat begins to open at 181 deg F.

Thermostat fully open at 203 deg F.

Governer is set the same as 6B's about 2900 rpm for fast idle

and 2750 rpm under full load

so if i get a 0-100 oil pressure guage and a 120-240 water temp guage ill be fine?how much fuel pressure do these things run at?

blkdragon, if its VE powered I imagine the numbers are probly about the same as the 6B. A 100psi oil pressure gauge is enough. Mine cold idle runs at 60-70psi. Warm I think idle at 30psi. Cruise warm at 50psi. Water temp yes a 120-240* is plenty for a diesel. Thats what I have. Temp will run at whatever your thermostat is set for. Originals run high like 180*. I installed the latest update stat it runs at 160-165*. If your VE powered, with a diapraghm lift pump, idle spec should be 5-7psi, same at cruise. More than likely with an old or deap LP, idle and cruise will be at 3psi, quickly to zero with some throttle. P7100 powered, not sure, but I know they run a heck of lot more pressure, something like 25psi at idle, more with throttle, I'm told the P pump needs 25 psi at WOT. For VE pump, diapraghm LP a 0-16psi will do fine. I have a 0-30psi, most I see is 14. 5psi, thats with a low pressure piston lift pump. Edit: Boost gauge, if you are stock and plan to stay stock a 30psi gauge is plenty. I suggest at least a 40psi for future bombing. Stock intercooled 6B's psi is about 15-19psi+-. Don't forget the pyrometer. 0-1500 or 1600*. Tach a 4000rpm is great. BTW you need a signature so we know what you have.
