I know all the Old Salts will dismiss this post out of hand as old news, but...

I just put on my EZ after satisfying myself that my truck is not a lemon/warranty problem child and I installed all of my complementary bombing upgrades... I put the EDGE on at the stock setting, level 3 and was impressed! I got boost numbers that went from 30. 1 lbs (stock) to 34. 6 lbs (level 3) max on a quick 0-60 run with the boost elbow installed. I hit 1061 on the pyro for a quick second and whew the accerlation is much better. I am very pleased. As for fuel mileage, my guess is it is better 'cause you don't use as much peddle. Now I will just keep my fingers crossed for the next several thousand miles and hope I don't have any code issues... If the reliability stays the same I will be grinnin' every time I crank her up. ;) :p

Damn that bombin' bug.

Lawdog1,

Where do you have your Pyro at and how hard was it to hit the 1060 number?

I have an edge on mine aswell, on level "3", but no gauges yet...

I know I need them, but no cash to do so...

I am running a similar setup to lawdog1... and in similar driving conditions too.

I have hit 1300* with the EZ on lev. 3. This was empty running HARD up an I-75 onramp with OD off. When it hit 1300 I quickly backed down.

My pyro is right off #3 cyl on top of the manifold. I agree with everyone here who says guages are a must... stock or not.

I drilled the pyro right in the center of the "collector" of the exhaust manifold pre-turbo. I hit 1060 on a quick run unloaded on level ground from 0-60mph. Before adding the EZ my high temp was around 930. I would be afraid of the EZ, towing without gauges...

I have had the ez for a while now and just reciently put in the x monitor. After driving with the gagues and seeing how hi the egr temps get I was a fool for running without the gagues. I leave it on 5 and can hit 1250 egt really fast and it scares me to think that now I back off when I see the temps where as before I nevered lifted. I'll never know the damage I've done in the past. :{

Kory, If its any consolation, it is generally accepted that the engines can take higher EGT's for short periods ( two or three seconds at a time) without damage. I've heard 1500 - 1600 deg.

That having been said, I'm planning on keeping mine below 1250 no matter what.

pstillo, If you do a search you can probably find some pictures. Most people put the probe near the center of the manifold close to Number 3 cyl, although #6 is the hottest.

That make me feel better. I also installed my pyro in the collector. If you don't have a right angled drill make sure your drill bits are long enough. Mu drill was tucked in around the ac lines and I just took my time. All went well. I will be putting on the ATS manafold soon so I will predrill and tap the hole before the install.

High altitude EZ

You guys come to Colorado and you won't have to worry about overboost and high EGTs. I tested mine yesterday coming out of Cripple Creek and the boost hit 29" before backing down. EGTs were around 1000. RPMs were pegged at 3300, which is WOT.

Oh, and the altitude was 10,000. ' I wasn't pullin' anything besides my lard*** and two Portuguese water dogs who were wondering what all the noise was about.
