Local dealer has a Ram for sale but we (Mackenzie and I) know its way too high priced. They are asking $29,488!?!?!? What would you pay?

Dang he's proud of it isn't he?

Here's one for quite a bit less, but with a little more miles.

Or another pretty close to what you're looking at. You might print it out and bring it with you to show what you could buy one for.

I dunno, from what I understand CTDs are getting a premium these days. But 29k, for a 01? must be gold filled u-joints.

I just paid 21k for my truck, and its LOADED with every option except the cd changer with 58k miles. In this area that truck would be priced about 23-24k

There was a truck like that for sale at the local dealership out here except it was silver. They wanted $28,500. for it but it only had 12000 miles on it. I wouldn't give more than $21000 for it either.

LOL, look at what we have on our lot, it's an '02, and it will probably sell.

The thing of it is, it's all in what the market will bear. We sell more diesels than just about any other lot in northern MD, because we don't sell any junk, and we have a great reputation. We are on the higher end of the pricing scale, that's for sure.

Of course, the dealer may discount it significantly if it's older inventory. And not all trucks have the same mark up in them. Our used vehicles range from $1000-$8000 in markup.

You should check with Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, Idaho. I was getting my oil changed last week at the dealer and happened to speak with a gentleman who bought his CTD from Dave Smith Motors. It was an '03 CTD, with the SLT plus package. He said he only paid $31,??? for it, brand spankin new  . I thought I would call Dave Smith Motors just to verify, cause I couldn't believe it. And he was telling the truth. I had them price me a brand new CTD 600, quad cab, short bed, SLT plus, 4x4, there price was $33,??? minus a $2,500 rebate to come to $31,???.

So in my opinion I would rather spend an extra $2,000 for a brand new 600 with no miles, and full warranty, 4 doors, ect... ect... ect.

P. S My only affiliation with Dave Smith Motors was the phone conversation I had last week.

Wow. I paid less than that for mine and it was a brand new 01. 5 with the sport package and minus the plow. Guess I got lucky. But if you can sell it for that price good job I suppose.

That would be only possible with an SLT with NO other options, and the dealer would have to give you the holdback money to get to those kind of numbers. Big, multiple dealer conglomerates can do that, unfortunatly single dealerships like where I work can't give away the holdback, we actually have to use it for what it's meant for.

Not sure what an SLT plus is on a Ram

The gentleman that I spoke with while getting my oil changed is the one who told me that his '04 was an SLT plus, which he told me was, every option minus the leather. When I called Dave Smith Motors I told them the same thing when asking for a price, and they didn't correct me if I was wrong. So if I am wrong and there is no SLT plus package on the 3rd Gens, then I appologize.

But my message is still the same, I wold much rather spend an extra $2,000 for a new truck. Instead of saving $2,000 on a 3 yr. old truck with 56,000 miles.
