My selling Dealer sent me a coupon for complete lube service for 49. 95. I asked and they said 12 quarts of Mopar 15w40 is 23. xx bucks. So that leads me to believe the Mopar Oil filter is going for somewhere between 5 and 10 bucks and that they are charging about 20 bucks labor.

has anyone else received similar coupons before?

Now dont get me wrong..... I have done plenty of oil changes in my day however for 50 bucks you dont get dirty, dont waste half of a weekend afternoon etc... . sounds pretty good to me..... Its an oil change..... I would hope a wrench monkey would be able to do that without messing it up.

lastly they have a policy for cars that says if it is not done (oil change) within 30 minutes its free..... they said that they need 45 to 60 minutes to finish a diesel... . I am thinking about trying to hold them to that and maybe come away with another free oil change. (my first two oil changes were free)

Thoughts, Comments, Opinions are Welcomed

Just take a little bit of time to go over their work.

1. recheck fluid levels.

2. make sure oil filter is tight.

3. see if you can tell if they hit all grease points.

4. probably wouldn't hurt to ask what weight oil they put in. (bring this up to them before you hand over the keys)

just my . 02

If you are satisfied with the price of the oil change ($50. 00) before the service, then I would be satisfied with it after the service. By calling the service person/mechanic (monkey) and pre planing to con them out of another free oil change, shows me dissatisfaction before the fact. Just my thoughts, comments and opinions.

That's about what my dealer charges. They will do it for $22 labor if I bring in the oil and filter. I've never done an oil change in any of my CTD's because it's not worth messing with for $22, and I don't want to have to mess with 3 gallons of drain oil.

That's not bad for a dealer oil change. I paid $80 but after complaing to the service manager about some unnecessary parts, I'm getting the next one free.

My dealership charges 56. 00. I can get the local oil change shop to do it for 12. 00 with my own oil and filter. Well worth it.

The local Lithia dealer in Grants Pass Oregon, Charges $40. Thats it. Why get your hands dirty? Delo is Delo. I have had 3 cases of it on my shelf for quite some time. I would rather not have to deal with the waste oil. $ :D  40 is just a good deal!

I bought DC's Basic Diesel Service Contract. Lube, Oil, Filter changes w/all Mopar OEM Parts for 5yrs/100kmiles whichever comes first for $15/oil change (prepaid) at the dealer. I just hand them a coupon and I'm done. I also got a free oil change coupon from the dealer as a thank you.

Oil Change

Mine would cost me $90, so $50 doesn't sound too bad. The first one was free for me, and was a very bad experience.

I did the next one myself. Much more pleased with the workmanship :-laf

15,000 mile service will be $333. 00 plus tax :( I guess I'll be doing that one myself too.

Thanks,

Dave

My dealer sends me those $44. 95 coupons every couple of months. If your Dodge dealer is a 5-star, you can also get the coupons online at the dealer website from the Service section.

I've been getting $36. 95 oil change coupons from an out-of-state Dodge dealer where I had some service done. My local in-state dealer honors the coupons -- twice -- even though past the expiration date; "Doesn't matter," said the service writer, and he also said "make sure it's a coupon from a Dodge dealer," not something else. So far, no problems.

K. Hogan: Is your service contract that includes $15. 00 oil changes something different than my 7 year, 100,000 mile extended warranty service contract? If so, where do I get one and how much do they cost? If it's the same thing I already have, where in the fine print does it talk about $15. 00 oil changes? Thx.

I bought a book of coupons for diesel oil/filter/lube from Chrslyer through my dealer. Twelve coupons for $250, basically $21/oil change, which is cheaper than I can buy the components and now I don't have to crawl under my truck on my gravel driveway. Jeff

Not to start an :-{} but maybe its just because I'm probably younger than most of you (21), but I prefer to change my own oil so I know its done correctly.

That and I can usually do it for less than $30 ($8-9 filter, $18 for oil)

It is alway's a good excuse to take a look around under the truck also. I'm also a little uncertain about someone else(apprentice in the lube bay in a hurry to make impression on shop foreman)allowing debri to get in my filter(and then be flushed right on in to the block or crank)... ... ... ... . If one was to have all oil services by the same shop or dealer there may be some honest recourse. Don't mean to sound like a doughting Thomas , but things happen and I don't need any incentive to yank a 6000 dollar Cummins out as I might for a gasser needin' mod's.

I'm to old fashion and I don't like the fast oil change that

you get, i. e. I want to get all the last bit of crud drained out... ... I let mine drain for at least an hour. I have been using Valvoline Premium BLue Extreme (the group III "synthetic" 5w-40) for approaching 150,000 miles now (currently at 187,000) and can do a better job with a Strat Filter than the dealer charges---BUT not for $21 though..... I do go 6-7,000 between changes.

Yeh! I hear ya, when I was 21 and long after that I did all that stuff myself too, but at 61 I just don't want to deal with it anymore even although I'm physically able to do so.

JW: NO, it is not the same as the Extended Warrantee. I have that as well. This is a Maintenance Agreement. You can go further and get ALL your maintenance covered, if you wann go for $$$. Go to DC's website or go to any Dodge Dealer. If you buy from DC direct, you'll pay MSRP. If you go to the dealer, you can deal on the price.

My dealer does them for $28 for those who bought the truck there. Hasn't always been done perfectly, but I always check their work anyway. Works for me.

The good thing about having the LOF done at the dealership is they check out your truck, know your truck, and have a interest in your truck. I don't want a part time oil change guy touching my 5k engine.
