The local Dodge dealer has a 00 2500 reg. cab 4x4 for sale. It has the Cummins of course, and a factory nv5600. It's got a DMI bumper (not the chrome one), turnover ball, and some running boards. It's a farm pickup, but in pretty good shape. It's got 121k on the ticker and looks like it will need some new rubber in the not too distant future. I don't know what they're asking, but what ould be a good price for one. Thanks guys

If it's in good shape, I'd say it should be in the $16k-17k range. I wouldn't pay any more than that, but I haven't seen it either.

Absolutely, low ball them..... really LOW.

And don't be scared to walk out when they won't come down, they'll call...

I love playing the car salesman game.

How low are we talking. I looked up the truck on KBB, but put is at private party. It's value was just a touch over 13,000. And Dealer price was just shy of 17. I'm sure they're assuming that the truck is spotless and hasn't been used but drive grandpa around town.

Offer 13. 5k and wait for an answer.

They will come back with counter that you kindly say back, "I'll have to ask the Misses and get back to you". Leave # so they can call back and leave. Give it 1 hr before first call back.

Only you can say what you will pay. Mike

I know the owner of the business, my dad's bought his last couple cars there. His boy was in the same grade as me in high school. I wanna get a good deal, but I don't wanna **** him off. I'm going to go check it out on Saturday.

Cars are a dime a dozen. so are most dealerships. The RIGHT truck however is another thing. It took me a year and a half to find MY truck and i looked at several hundred.

Dont get in a hurry, figure out exactly what you want/need and go from there. Things are too expensive to buy a truck for the motor and not be satisified with the rest of it.

Dont worry about making them mad, they want to sell, they just want to get rich doing it on every deal. Make a fair offer and if they refuse walk away. If it is supposed to be yours it will work out. If not, a couple days or a week you will find a ''better one''

or the right one that will. Happy Hunting

I looked for my truck for 3. 5 years before I found what I was looking for at the price I wanted to pay... depends on how patient you are. I remember looking at so many trucks and every one of them seemed like "just the perfect one", but it always happened that the next truck I looked at was a little better. personally, I wouldn't pay more than 14,500 for that truck, but like quoted above, I haven't seen it and everyone has to set thier own price... Good Luck

I tried trading in my 01 2500 with 130k miles, very clean truck with no damage and fully road worthy, they wouldnt take it because of milage: the galves value is used by dealers for trade-in pricing, and with milage, it was not worth much. I am willing to bet that if the truck you want to buy was a trade-in, they didnt pay much for it.

I'd have to agree with MichaelRubin. They don't pay much for high mileage vehicles..... unless they bought it at auction, then they knew what they were looking for. The only thing that really matters is that you feel you got a good deal.

I was at the dealer Friday and the sales MGR said I'll give you what you paid for it 5 years and 71K ago :--) I said no because it runs just fine :D

Here's the deal.

He wants 15,800 for it. He says he put a new transmission and an injector pump in it. I crawled underneath, and the transmission looked a little dirty. You could see some fresh hi-tack on the transmission. Didn't get a good look at the pump, will look when I make it to town later. He says he'll warranty the replaced parts for 3/36K.

I'd say make it an even $15k and it's a deal. Or offer him less if you think it's not worth it. It sounds like you won't have to worry about the transmission or the VP for 3/36k! That's worth a lot in my book. Even if the two were not replaced, it sounds like you'll get them fixed if they break.

Hey I don't know if you are interested, but I will soon be selling mine. Nothing wrong with it, but I have just accepted a new job and have a company truck to drive. My 2000 regular cab has approximately 70K on it, you can see what I have done to it in my signature. Never raced or beat on, I babied it. I just won't be driving it and I hate to see it sit around. Let me know if interested-oh it also has leather and wood dash in-lay, and BFGoodrich 285's with 12K on them, bed cap (black), rhino lined bed. I was just about to place it in the classifieds this week.

Thanks,

Kess
