Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Primer button leak

I had a fuel leak last week, which I thought was coming from the old filter location (I have a Prime Loc), and since I had everything out I did the marine fuel line fix for my return and delivery lines. After putting everything back together I began to prime the engine, when I noticed fuel coming out, seems like around the primer button, but when I started it up, I didn't notice any fuel leaking. Is it possible for the primer button to leak when it's pressed, but not when the truck runs? Is this hard to fix? Can the prime button assembly be rebuilt or do I have to replace it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

O-ring. Get a new one at NAPA for about 50 cents. Remove the rubber button cover and unscrew the button. Be careful because it's plastic.

Thanks! Do I have to remove the whole assembly or can I do it while it's mounted? I do have the fender liner out so I have pretty good access.

No need to remove the whole pump, just the primer pump.

Is that "O" ring a special flat one or the regular round ones? I got one but it seems a tad bit tight, will it wear down over time?

It's just a regular round O-ring. The old one may be deformed a little. Install the one you have. If it does not leak you are good to go. Nothing high tech there.

Okay, seems to be all right, no leaks. I used the "o" ring that was a little thicker. Thanks for all the advice guys!
