Whats the best way to prime the fuel system again after a filter change? Is the primer on the lift pump? if so where? I felt down there once and felt a rubber bulb but couldn't push it. Where is the primer? Thanks

The primer is on the lift pump. I'm not sure why it would be difficult to push, maybe try opening the bleed screw first?

It is a rubber bulb on the fuel pump. I use my hand or sometimes a broom handle to push it.

It should push fine. The spring is a little heavy though. You can hear when the fuel hits the return valve.

Its best to keep an old broomstick about 3 ft long in your truck. You never know when you might catch a slug of bad fuel and need a fuel filter change or who knows you might just run out of fuel... . don't ask how I know... ... . after pumping about a hundred or so strokes you should hear it passing thru the overflow valve... . I wonder if the cam lobe being oh the high side would make it hard to prime??Try bumping the starter. Good luck;)

Changed my fuel filter yesterday. Open the bleed screw on the top of the filter mount about 5 turns or take it out all together. Get your self a wooden dowl about 2&a half feet long or a broom handle 2 to 3 ft long and use that to push on the rubber bulb. If you try it by hand it will be hard to reach asnd also be very hard to push. It feels like it is solid if you try to push it by hand. Push it about 100 times as it takes alot to fill up the filter and get it to run out the bleed valve. Once you get fuel comming out the bleed valve with each stroke on the old broom handle-tighten the bleed valve and start the trk. It might stumble and run rough for a little bit but it will smooth out.

Hope this helps. If you still havbe problems let us know. Some one will chip in and help.

Let us know.

I've never used anything other than my thumb to push the primer button. It's kind of hard to reach until you learn how, but it should not be too bad to push.

probably need to bump the motor over to get the pump off the lobe on the cam...

mine seems to be very easy to reach, but I'm 6'4" and have fairly long arms :p

forrest

I roll under and push the primer from there. It gets harder to push when all the air is pushed out. Last prime job took 40-60 pumps.

You shouldn't have to prime it depending on how much fuel you fill it with, or spill on yourself trying to get it back in. It will run rough until all of the air is out but after that you should be good. Make sure you use clean fuel to put back in the canister.

NOT a good idea to fill the filter with fuel. The hole is the clean side so the fuel you fill it with goes to the injection pump unfiltered. I put mine on dry except for a little on the gasket. Then I fill it with the push button.

Dont know if it's a good idea,,but i prime the easy way... simply bl;ow air from the compressor into the fuel tank,,and have the banjo on the pump cracked open,,fuel come rushing out in no time... off course on the side of the raod,,this might not help you much,,but it doesnt take much air,,,and sometimes it's the only way to prime the system if it's been run really dry,,and cranked over a bunch of times wiithout fuel

,,,Good luck
