Has anyone here ever done them?

I have someone asking me to do theirs and want to know if theyre significantly different than brakes on any other car. What should I prepare for?:-laf

TIA

I thought that they ran on anti-matter, warp thrusters or something... ... .

Make it hover, you won't need a jack... ... :-laf

Seriously, I can't imagine the brake pads or calipers being any different than anything else.

If it has regenerative braking that will be in the powertrain I would think.

Full power and beam me up, Scotty... ...

The only thing i'd watch out for is having a computer issue while messing with any of the brakes. I helped my neighbor change the brakes on his hybrid (non Prius), and after the brakes were completed, there was a sequence that had to be accomplished in order to reset the brakes. Got all kinds of CEL's and ended up having to take it to the dealer. Had something to do with the amount of brake pressure being input to a computer which in return accounted for a bit of the regenerative info:confused:. All i know is i'd dig around a bit before you tear into it. Maybe disconnecting the battery prior is enough but i'd at least look into it. They don't want people doing ANY maintenance on these newer cars anymore it seams.

Here you go, from "Prius Chat" .....

I read the first page of posts, appears to be disc front, drum rear.

Rear brakes are in use and wear more than the front due to the regenerative braking of the FWD drivetrain.

Read away, looks like normal stuff. Just don't open any bleeder screws.

I would still like to see if it will hover... ... :-laf

I'm sure I'll have no problem getting it to hover if the right amount of anfo is applied. :-laf:-laf

It might hover a little too high though. :D

Thanks guys, I think I can do this.
