I am putting 20 x 10 wheels with 4. 5" backspacing with 35/13. 5/20 tires on my new Mega cab and can't get the right answer as to what lift to put on that would clear it. I wanted the 4" Superlift but everyone says it will rub unless I get narrower wheels and tires??? So that is out. I think the 5" pro comp would work fine but I am not a big fan of the coil spacer. Then there is the Fabtech. I saw a Mega Cab lifted with 35's and a 6" Superlift and it looked horrible because there was so much gap between the wheel and fender. I am in a rock and a hard place. What do you guys think?

my interior trim guy just put a 5" fabtech on his truck to clear his 35" toyo's on 20's. he has rubbing against the cab side of the fender. but he also has a front drive shaft vibration that he almost had them take the lift out because the local shop and fabtech could not figure out, wanted him to grind on c/v joint (sounds like D. C. ), until i told him to buy the superlift transfer case drop bracket, which helped alot but did not cure the problem (i think he's too used to stock).

my best guess is to buy at least 5" of lift. but buy an adjustable front drag ling setup so you can push the front axle forward enough to get rid of the fender rub(not fabtech),i had to purchase the rock runner links after the fact (to push front axle forward) and also purchase the transfer case drop bracket to get rid of front drine shaft vibration.

good luck, show some pic's when it's done.

Oh, this should be easy. Obviously you're doing this for absolutely no purpose but for looks. That's fine. However, consider that you may actually hit a speed bump in the grocery store parking lot or a dip while pulling into the soccer field when turning. This little dip - especially if you're going faster than 5 mph - will compress the suspension at least an inch, making your 5" lift have the same issues as the 4" kit. Be careful, though, if you hit the dip or bump at 10 mph, you may even have greater rubbing issues. Unless the lift kit has bump stoppers to greatly reduce the travel, you're likely to have some rubbing issues.

All in all, there is a lot to be said for proper fitting wheels, but I guess they're not ghetto or blingy enough. ;)

Ya, I think I would go get an old baja bug if I wanted to do what you were wanting to do or perhaps a Subaru. For a fraction of the cost. I wouldn't buy a 50K truck to do that with. Bling and ghetto wouldn't consist of black powdercoated wheels. Just a thought.

Well, With that wheel and Tire set-up you need atleast a 6" lift. Even at that you might get moderate tire rub on the back of the fender in a turn. That is the same set-up i am running on my truck.

Thanks Crashcade. Your truck looks great. I am not going to run 37's though. 6" lift looks horrible with 35's in my opinion with too much space between the tire and fender. You still think a 5" lift would rub 35's?

I put 18x9 centerlines on my truck with 33s. Even after I put the KORE system on, I could get contact upon compression while turning. This would be on the outer edge of the tire contacting the fender. I would suggest observing the stock tire and wheel combo. as someone else turns the steering wheel from lock to lock to see where it's close. Our trucks have an odd backspacing for a reason; IT'S WHAT WORKS! I hated the way the truck looked, it handled horribly as far as tracking and I didn't like the contact.

As it is now, I have 33s on stock wheels and I get a slight rub on the control arm at full lock. Much more bearable than it was before. With 35s on a 10" wheel, you'd damn near have to lift it to where the bottom of your fender clears the top of your tire. I like the looks of a 4-5" lift a lot better but I'd be more careful of the wheels you intend to purchase.

There's painfully few options for wheels that have the proper offset for our trucks. If you want to avoid lifting your truck to the moon to clear these tires and wheels, you could call Greg at DRC and get his fenders that open up the wheelwells for huge tires. Otherwise, you might want to spend some time looking for wheels that have the proper offset.

as in my sig. i have a 6" lift with 37x13. 5x17 toyo m/t's on a 9" rim with 4 5/8 backspacing and have NO tire rubbing, i dont care which position you can put the truck in, wheels turned or not , or crossing a major off set with two opposite tires off the ground i have no rubbing. but as i mentioned last night i purchased the adjustable links and pushed my front axle forward 1". noone makes a 20x9??

p. s. i use my truck in the mountains in idaho all the time and it works great.

Well, I run 34. 9 toyos with a 2 inch puck, hallo wheels, which I've never seen anywhere else, and a BDS 2 inch puck. I get a little fender rub on the fender flairs.

4 other companies might have what your looking for.

BDS

Sky Jacker

Rough Country

Tough Country

Plus I like Fab Tech too.

All these are sponsers of UROC and I've got to know these manufactures and I think they all make a great product.
