Need more towing power! I am 99 Dodge Diesel 2500,quad cab, 4x4, 3. 55, BD exhaust brake, with Auto Loc... towing more than I should!

Anyone out there have any experience with the Pro-Loc TC, (They claim it is best in World), with a Transgo shift kit. The foregoing mfr'd by Sun Coast.

I haven't blown my transmission yet, but don't want to. Will this mod give me more comfort and greater tow capacity with reliability?

If I added more HP with an EZ or Banks pwr pack, am I pushing my luck. . ?

I am towing a 13,500 lb. 5ver. . anyone with the knowledge or experience please respond... thanks. . Marve

I am running a Suncoast converter & valvebody. I am very happy with it, big improvement. They are great people to deal with. Yep, I also run Amsoil in it.

My Suncoast has held on real good so far. :D

See sig:

Ps: the comp was only added about a month ago, before that I had an rv-box since before the pro-lock.

The 1700 stall works real well.

Bob I knew you couldnt resist to post any technical advise. I have had my suncoast tc for 2 years and I am very happy with it. I wish when I was out for last years dyno day I could of taken ya out for a beer... I knew you would of liked that... we could of talked about the other trannys you tested before you bought the best.

John (JB), I don't know about Bob (Wagner) however, I DO KNOW that I had another major brand of automatic transmission enhancement prior to going with DTT and it paled in comparison. I have also driven several other auto. equipped Rams with different transmission enhancements (all of them being mentioned on the TDR BB at one time or another). I would say that my previous first hand knowledge (based on what I conveyed above) is why I feel my DTT transmission enhancement is superior to the rest (excluding ATS which I have NO first hand knowledge of).

Another NW BOMBer must feel pretty much the same way as he had his SunCoast TC removed, replacing it with a DTT 93% TC and upgrading the remainder of his transmission with DTT components. The last time I talked with him he was still very much elated with his DTT upgrade! If you have a problem believing that just Email Rob Hanson and he will tell you the NW BOMBer I'm referring to (I WON'T mention his name here because I haven't cleared it with him).

John, I wish you were as happy with the way your automatic transmission performs as I am with mine. :)

John ... I already know without e-mailing rob who it is. . and I guess you didnt read what I wrote... I was happy with my tc. I can sorta respect where you are coming from since you had another companies product in your truck (which you used to tell the board was the best) Didnt Bill work at the place that paled in comparison?

Here we go again... ... .....  Try helping the member who asked a question instead of starting a pi$$ing match again.

By now we all know who's going to say what..... this is getting old for those of us that are still trying to make the best decision for our application/budget. But I must admit, it's entertaining as hell to read, not just very helpfull!:p  :p

John, I did in fact read within your post where you stated you were happy with your SunCoast TC (and I'm glad... really) however, it seems (to me) as though you have had doubts in the past.

BTW, I did not want to drag any particular TC vendors through the mud in this post.

BFC, there is SO MUCH automatic transmission information within the TDR BB archives, Mrohfeld could spend several LONG days reading it all.

Suncoast

You might want to contact Chip Fisher at Blue Chip. I know he has a bunch of experience with Suncoast.

John,

I wasn't sniping at you, just saying. Search don't work so folks can't get to the data base. I just reread my post, I wanted to say for the folks that are still on the fence, I have made up my mind a while ago.

it's all good,

Glenn

BFC, I forgot about the search troubles of late. It's just that a great many members are waaay tooo lazy and find it easier to request information without even bothering to look. Case in point; several months ago a member started a thread concerning the Edge Comp. The THIRD thread down from his thread was the EXACT SAME THING... exact same question! How friggin lazy is that?

The sad part is that I've seen this time and again. Multiple threads concerning the very same thing/issue started within a half day or day of one another... and they're still on the same page together!:eek:

I am Tired Of The transmission BS Also !!

Almost anything you replace the factory stuff with will be a giant improvement. If you are happy with it, thats the end of it. !

I just replaced my stock converter with one of Sun Coast's new Proloc converters, and I love it. I only tow on the weekend, but this converter has made a great deal of difference. I used to be able to walk through my converter at will, but have yet to be able to with the ProLoc. I have been trying to slip the ProLoc, but no joy yet.

I put the truck on the dyno before replacing the converter, but the best pull I could get was 268 Hp to the rear wheels, and 680 Ft Lbs of torque, the numbers were go down as we were making runs, and I found out it was the converter, clutch was fried. I will be getting another dyno run, and will post the results just to see how much of a difference a converter makes. I hope to see 310 HP, and over 750 Torque, whatever it is though I am happy with my set-up for now.

Sorry for the long post, (ProLoc), U. S. Made!!!
