seen some posts lately that have suggested that pick-ups are exempt from alot of weigh stations that say "no pickups" that's very true unless you have a trailer behind you. then you go from a pu to a comb veh in the eyes of the dot. in north carolina you will see vans and pu trucks with commercial tags, but you wont see an empty van or pu in the scalehouse. i,ve always said, unless you gcvwr over 26001, combined , most states will let you slide. that's their limit and should be all casual and business related combination scale weight. pull for fun, pull for a living, it wont matter in a few more years. we will all have to meet the higher tow ratings that the dsl war has put on pickup trucks, and that's what we are, the middle point of being too heavy or too light. imho
