problem, no trailer turn signals

First I'd like to thank all members who submitted problems and possible solutions with the trailer turn signals on 2006 rams. I recently lost my left trailer turn signal and could not find the fuse. Armed with the info I found on this sight, I called my dealer. The service manager had knowledge of the situation. For 2006 DC removed the left and right trailer turn fuses and replaced them with an internal circuit breaker inside the tipm (total internal power module) that can only be resset by the dealer. Apon resetting, the mechanic discovered a service bulletin dated 10-13-06, #4841420 AO. The tipm is to be reflashed to increase the breaker amperage from 15amps the 20 amps. I'll let you know if I have any more problems. Thanks again. Randy

I had the reflash for the low amps and have not had any problems since. My boat trailer would kick the breaker, even though the wireing was good. All my other trailers would not give it any problems. Finally a fix that worked. Oo.

The build date on my 06 is March 25, 2006. I have a fuse for only the trailer running lights. Thanks for the reply. Randy.

I spliced water proof fuse holders into the "T" I use to splice my 5th wheel connector into the factory harness. This protects the PCM on the turn signal circuits of the trailer. The way I did it, it also protects the bumper 7 pin connector. I run 15 amp fuses.

Look at your plug

Take a look at your trailer plug on your truck.

I had my trailer brake not work so I put a new one in and it still did not work I looked at everything then started to look at the wires, so I started at the plug got about 2 inches in to it and found the wires were broken in side the caseing were the factory must have put a wire tester on to check the wireing. look at this link for pictures of what I am talking about

I used the Reese T connector and put water proof fuses in the harness for the left and right turn signals which protects my 7 pin plug for my 5th wheel and the factory bumper 7 pin plug as well. I put in 10 amp fuses as that Reese T connector harness is only rated for 7. 5 amps. With the 10 amp fuses installed, I haven't blown any fuses or melted any wires.

If this reflash goes from 15 amp up to 20 amp, I'd have to upgrade the wiring in that Reese T connector harness.

Can you buy a tool too reflash/reset the turn signal internal fuse?

Stude, I'm pretty sure you have to reset the TIPM with Chrysler Star Scan Tool.
