Well,,,i know this might not sound like an emergency,,it certainlly is to my girlfriend,,,her driveway is starting to look like the Exxon Valdez incident...

Now that i have my death wobble situation figured out,,,i am now chasing engine oil leaks...

2 weeks ago I replaced the front main seal,,,that helped some,,,and a new gasket too...

I checked the oil lines and fittings,,they seem ok. .

It seems to be concentrated on the lower front of the enfgine cover or front oil pan area...

Anyone have any ideas???

And if i have a leak from the actuall gear case to engine gasket,,how big of a job is it to fix????

And do i need to change the oil seal and gasket again???

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done your KDP yet. Mine showed leak in same area. KDP got me. The gear case to engine gasket is a fairly major job. Cam shaft removal is necessary. What about the case cover gasket? Have you looked there? Degrease the engine very good and try to make a better guestimation. Sounds like KDP to me though. Just my . 02

Hi

The seal job was done by a very qualified diesel mechanic friend of mine,,that i work on his sportbike in exchange... . he's the one that sais about the seal going on dry... i trust him 100%. .

I did tab up the KDP,,,it had back out half way,,i was glad i chose to do the seal when i did, before the pin let go. .

Does any one know if the bolts to the gear case to engine are accesible for tightening if i just remove the cover again????

I am going to keep the same seal and gasket,,,it's only 2 weeks old. . so i'll chance it,,,my mechanic changes them out with the cover off in about 1 hour,,so i'll see if its ok. .

Thanks

oil leak

If you're having trouble finding the source of the leak, get some engine oil uv dye. Degrease the motor, add the dye, run it for a little while and then shine a blacklight on the front of the motor.

Hooter69: You can get to most of the gear case bolts by taking off the cover. You will have to turn the crank a bit as some of the bolts are under the gears.

Hooter69 (God, That strikes me as a hilarious handle)-

Have you checked your vacuum pump-to-gear housing gasket? How about your pump-to-gear hougin gasket? I've had them leak down and around and look just like a front main.

That stinks that there is a gear case to block gasket to go out. Probably be my next leak- I got the rest. Time for a new cam, then Oo.

I checked the other possiblities,,but it seems to be from the gear case to engine area,,,,

I'll try to use a sealant of somekind,,,if anyone has any idea as to what to use,,please let me know...

If i have to take it all appart,,i may do a cam as welll,,,,,i know Lawrence of DD pretty good,,,and he has never steered me wrong with my truck or my racebikes,,,the man knows his s%^t. .

How does the PDR cam compare.
