I went by a local "independent" four wheel drive shop today to get a price on installing the Tuff Country kit I purchased for the 03. He insists that the 03 is not the same as the 02. They have tried to install a couple of different brands and the top support mount is different. Something to do with the rubber boot on the 03's being different. He has not tried the Tuff Country. He also said that the lower arms need dropped and axle rotated to get the springs out. He said one of the shock bolts is in jail without removing the spring. Sounds a little suspect, but I was not able to look at it this evening. Has anyone else heard of any of this??... CJ

The DayStar kit I use is for a 94-99 1500-3500 4WD. More info can be found in the 3rd Gen FAQ at the top of this forum.

If those guys can't figure out which kit to use (and it sounds like they've jacked up other trucks trying to figure it out), there's no way I'd have them install it.

I put 3" Tuff Country Spacers on mine without any problems, which mount the same as the 2 " spacers, I did make longer control arms, but I lengthened them ths same as Tuff Country did on the 3" kit for the 2001 by measuring stock 01 arms and the arms that came in the 3" kit for the 01. But with the 2 " kit for the 01 they did not send longer arms so I think everything should fit alright considering I lengthened mine the same and everything fit great

I installed the same ones Duck has. Compressed the springs and they came out no problem.

You may need to pop the right drag link as its a tight fit getting the shock bolt out, but the job is quick and simple.

Duck... which shocks did you replace yours with, mine are thumping now, gotta go.

The wife noticed it, whew, ... " hun you better replace your shocks they're thumping something awful dear... you poor thing"... . :D

I have permission to shop, yeah!

Right on! :D

The local Fly-N-Hi shop in Mesa sold me a set of Deutch Tech (sp?) gas shocks. I have no idea which part # or the specific length, but they're 2" longer than the stock shocks obviously. Real nice ride like factory, no complaints.
