No problems with mine. I don't mean to be insulting, but have you tried the dimmer switch? On mine, if you click it up one notch, the display on the radio becomes about twice as bright to allow easy viewing in sunlight. One more notch, and the interior lights come on. --Eric

Same Problem

2006 Mega Cab. Same problem with the dim radio display. Have played with the dimmer switch and so forth. Still way too dim in bright sunlight. Barely readable from the driver seat without sunglasses on. With sunglasses on it's invisible. Guess I will take it by the %^&*&^%$ dealer and have them check it. Only 2k more till the warranty is up. :-{}

The display is almost impossible to read from some angles if your sunglasses are polarized. I have to tilt my head a little to the side when I wear polarized lenses.

Keep grinnin,

I've never had a problem with the display, but my player doesn't like to play CD's. Theres no rhyme or reason to when it will or won't play. I have to scroll thru the other discs a couple times then come back to the one I want to get it to play. Sometimes it is as much as ejecting the disc and reloading.

Dealer says nothing they can do, unless they can duplicate the problem... no matter how much I say intermitant, they just don't get it. Drives me crazy. warranty expires in Dec... go figure.

Deal sez its normal!

:mad:

Took the truck in for one last warranty session (35,880 miles) and the dim lighting was one issue. They said that its completely normal.

Crap

#@$%!

The 6 CD player in my wife's '05 Ford Escape wouldn't eject or load/play CD's, so took it to the dealer - they ordered in a new warrantied replacement, and the actual swap took only minutes. These later radio/player heads are a ripoff artists dream - WAY easy and fast to remove or change...

:-laf Not on some 06 models,between the floor cosole needing to be removed first to thehidden bezel screws... ... ... ..... poor design for servicing.

Has anyone else experienced extremely dim digital readout on their 6 cd player? Mine is almost impossible to see in daylight

Didn't see this in the thread so thought I'd add it...

If you roll the dimmer all the way "up" there are two detents. The last one turns on the interior lights. The second to last one puts interior lights in "Parade" mode which is the same "brightness" setting as headlights "off". I have a feeling that some of the people complaining about "too dim" are also running their headlights in the daytime, as I often do.
