One problem I have with my new truck, I took delivery of yesterday, can't get the fog lights to work. Is there a hidden switch I don't know about? They don't go on with the reg. healights, and no the brights aren't on. Maybe the dealer did something to them when he installed the chrome grill insert? don't see anything disconnected... The dealer is 400 miles away... anything I should check?

Phil, No I didn't... The headlight switch turns from left to right..... I just went outside and checked, pull out for fog lights... LOL... . Duh...

Thanks!

... and you can run with running (park) lights AND fog lights... and no headlights. . I dig that feature... ... something the "other guys" need to do... . ever notice how many new chvies runnin around with only ONE daytime head light working??... usually the passenger side dies a minute after you buy the truck!!... its GM wiring i guess!!???... . saw one today with No plates on it yet and it was burned out!!... nice!!!

I'm so glad DC has not made daytime running lights mandatory. I despise them; I guess all the safety Nazis at GM got in cahoots with bulb and alternator manufacturers and decided the DRL's would increase sales... ... . I work at an S&S Tire in Lexington, KY... It's fun trying to determine which DRL is out on some of the GM Junk we get in. On the newer trucks, even in our well lit shop, you can't override the headlight switch to determine which one is out IF the customer can't remember. If it's cloudy out, the headlights stay on. I personally don't need GM Nazis to tell me when I need my headlights on..... sorry for the ranting and raving; just my $. 02

IIRC, Daytime Running Lamps were started in Europe and came over here as 'accident reducing'. But they were tested in Norway, Denmark, Germany... Places where the daytime in winter is perhaps three hours long, with dawn and twilight lasting a couple of hours. In the US, we don't see those conditions and the DRLs don't make sense.

I like automatic headlight turn off, to prevent chewing up battery if you forget. But I hate Daytime Running Lamps almost as much as I hate the Liz Dole Tailgaters Brake Light.

I tend to disagree with the previous assessments. I think DRL's aid safety. They tend to catch your attention more than a non-lit vehicle, especially out here in the west where there are a lot of long straight stretches of road. Ever try and spot a white car coming on the horizon it's tough. Same reason lights on motorcycles are mandatory. I usually turn my headlights on for anything but a short trip.

I respectfully agree with you on the motorcycle issue. Motorcycles are sooooo much smaller than cars and trucks, it just makes good sense. It's just that there's so many cars on the road with DRL's that if everyone has them, they have a tendency to not "stick out" because of the fact that so many have DRL's. Just my $. 02 worth {again}
