Hi Folks: I have a 2002 3500 and am having a problem with the lumbar support in my seat. There is a little solenoid in the air line from the pump to the lumbar air bag. This little solenoid won't let air travel in either direction. Went to the dealer to buy a new one and they inform me you need to buy the whole seat back to the tune of over $1000. Have checked out local autowreckers to find a wrecked seat with a lumbar support with no luck. Anyone have any idea where I could find a new solenoid. Appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks Ron

Does the pump run when you push the inflate button? I had a problem with mine recently. It would inflate but would not deflate. I also could hear the circuit breaker in the fuse panel trip when I pushed the deflate button.

Found that I had shorted the wires between the seat bottom and the frame when reinstalling the seat. Repaired the wiring and all is good.

Hope this helps.

Jeff: The pump runs okay, when I hook the line up directly to the pump, it inflates the bag really quickly. When I shut off the pump, the air releases back thru the pump real fast. I just can't get any air thru the solenoid and at this time, I'm not up to replacing the whole seat back for a this one piece.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Ron,

If you can't repair or replace it for a reasonable cost, consider replacing it with the lumber support from Rostra. It's a similar set up. You may even be able to scavenge the pump off that system and use your stock air bag, plumbing, wiring, etc. It's not a ton of money, as I remember.

I actually added the Rostra to my seat so now I have dual supports, one low and one high, individually adjustable.

Jay: Thanks for the suggestion. Will look it up and see what they have. Should be better than replacing the entire back of the seat.
