Have a 1997 3500 that won't start unless the throttle is depressed. Sometimes the throttle feels hard and then gets easier, then the truck will start. Sometimes the truck will start without pushing the throttle but rarely does this happen. Any ideas?

Giving it some pedal is Ok but pushing it halfway or all the way to floor is not good.

How is your idle?

You mite want to check out your throttle linkage it mite be binding. You mite have to pull the connections off and grease them.

Worse case could be p7100 (injection pump) acting up.

Giving it a little pedal to start it is ok. These relics are NOT computer controlled so sometimes you need to help it a little bit. You can set the idle up some if it tends to want to stall at times. Or you can leave it alone. It's really no problem. I prefer to start mine that way. Starts quicker. Less wear on the starter. I can get away with a lower idle.
