I knew better than to drain my fuel filter, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't any water in there. Anyway, now I'm not getting fuel to anything on the fuel pump side of the lift pump. I'm working on about a 6 degree incline with a quarter tank of fuel (not sure if that matters one bit). I loosened the banjo bolts next to the fuel filter and the fuel pump, but there isn't any fuel getting there when I cycle the lift pump. Any suggestions on what may be wrong and how to fix it. I wrote the same post in the 911, but nothing has helped from those responses.

Here is what I had to do to prime my lift pump after changing filter.

1. disconnect rubber hose from filter canister

2. take a wire and run from hot side of battery to front (closest to the front of the truck) terminal of lift pump connector, you can back probe the connector here, don't disconnect connector just slide the wire in past the rubber water seal. When you do this you should here the lift pump run.

3. take a hose or air compressor and pressurize the tank. i would use my drain hose off the fuel filter housing and a rag and blow into the tank (with the hot wire connected)

4. it would be a good idea to put a bottle or something to catch the diesel fuel comming out of the rubber hose connected to the lift pump.

this procedure assumes you have a 24v 2000 or newer.

hope this helps

Be careful when you pressurize the tank. 1 or 2 psi is all you need. I split a tank in half when using a compressor to drain it. Sounds like a stick of dynamite going off.
