Driving down freeway this morning doing 70 MPH, Box set at 0. Come to construction zone shut cruise off and after about 3 miles of 45MPH I let off the pedal for a second. When I got back on it surged and bucked, engine light came on. No power hardly. Out of construction zone back up to 70 MPH and it backfires leaving a huge cloud of white smoke each time. Back it down to 60 MPH for 5 miles steadily getting worse. I get off at the next exit and gas it to get across the intersection to a gas station. I totally fill the intersection with white smoke. Shut truck off. Checked codes. P0192 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Low & P0237 Turbocharger Boost Pressure Sensor Low. . So I pull the Quadzilla Box and hook everything back up stock. Truck started, no smoke. Put another 150 miles on it runs great. Check engine light is now off. I will contact Quadzilla Monday about this. It seems since day one I bought this Quadzilla Box and installed it, my truck at idle had a miss, especially when cold outside. Could it have just gone bad or been bad from the get go?

What is your opinion as to what happened?

I had the same two codes you are having on my Quad race box on my 2004. The truck ran fine for about 2-3 months with the race box, then started getting the same codes about every two weeks or so. I had my box set in the 60 hp position 90 percent of the time. I finally had my belly full, and sold the quad box and bought the Bullydog power pup with outlook monitor so far so good. coobie :D

I have seen others had those same codes so I would check with quad over that one. They seem to really support there product so I am sure he will help you out.

As for the rough idle when cold, mine does the same, runs just fine once warm.

Hope that helps

My truck started surging and bucking with the quad box, even in the off position. I pulled the harness off and all was good. No codes though, ever.

I originally thought it was a fuel problem, but after a check I think it was the quad.

I think I needed to use dielectric grease on the connectors to fix the problem, but instead I pulled it and bought a Triple Dog.

I really miss the power of the quad, though. The t-dog can't touch it.

Extreme on the t-dog feels like less than the 60 setting on the quad race, at least below 2400 rpm.

Quad said that you may get these codes if one of the connections have come loose. Map sensor, data port, and or the plug for the box. since the box is needed to run your truck even on the 0 setting this maybe why some of you get this condition to happen.

Thanks all for your input. I have loved the Quad Box thus so far. I have beaten a Duramax, an 04' & 05' Powerstroke with it. The 05' had a Superchip downloader set on the highest setting. I must say though that he got me at about 70 MPH. But I got him good until then. So I have been quite happy with it. I think it is time now to do transmission upgrade, FASS system, then another box of some sort. One that doesnt raise fuel pressure. So over the winter I will just leave the Quad off, and work on those other upgrades. Probably sell it on E-Bay.

Mine has done the same thing, twice.

Both times when it was below 40* outside. I pulled the box and took it to the shop. After money spent, they could not duplicate the problem.

I never really thought about it being the box, but I guess it could. What would cause it to do that, only in cool/cold conditions? I have had the box for about 6 months and never had a problem, except from my CB transmissions.

Also why does Quad not post on here anymore?

Instead of pulling the boxes has anyone with a problem tried installing the bypass plug Quad has? That would let you know if it is connections under the hood or inside the box.

I still post here. We are really busy working on new things that need to be out by the end of the year.

I will start at the top and maybe it will help some of the other problem people experience.

First 0192 and 0237 are both caused by the signals being low. Seeing that you were in the off position I would have to think it was a connection problem. It could have not been snapped together all of the way the first time it was installed, it could have a snap that was molded at less than acceptable specs? It is is hard to know without seeing it.

With those 2 codes I would look at the fuel rail pressure connectors or the 12 pin connector that goes into the box. At one point there was an issue with getting the plugged snapped all of the way because the opening in the box was tight. That has now been fixed on the new ones.

In this instance I am going to say that for some reason power was lost to the module. I say this because even when it is turned off the map and fuel rail signal is broken and the module has to be operating for the signal to be passed through. Since they were "low" codes I can almost guarantee this is what happened.

There is 2 things you can do. First you can plug the module back into the truck and make sure everything is connected well. PLace the module where you can see the led. If you ever have an issue look at the led immediately and see what it does. If you loose power it will go to its startup routine and you will know what the problem was. The second thing you can do is send it in to us to check it out. We have had some bad harnesses, but as of late they seem to have gone away as we required our tolerances to be tighter.

The only other thing we seem to have a problem with is people installing the module under the hood. This can and will have ill effects on them. If you put it under the hood, move it into the can and your problems will go away. We clearly state this in the instructions and on the module itself.

Also the CB thing has really intruiged us. We had one of our dealers come to our shop this week. He made a big fuss about the module having issues with a "box stock cb". He had 2 cb's there so we went to work on it. After 2 hours we had the problem 99% solved when he spouted off about his radio being 72 Watts!!!! :--) Just for the record 4 watts is legal. At this point we switched to his other radio and it was a measly 15 watts! :--) We could fix the problem 100% with that radio.

Now with that said let me tell you some things that will help especially if you have a non-stock radio. Run your power wires directly to your battery. He had his running into the center console and it was pulling a massive load. The other thing you can do is wrap the switch cable around a rf choke. You can buy these for a couple of bucks at Radio Shack. Wrap the cable around them 5 or 6 times and that will most likely solve your problems.

Also just for the record, since we are the only one that has an rf problem as some people like to say. He also had a Bullydog Outlook. WHen the CB was keyed it would jump from 180 deg at idle up to 600+ deg. At one point with the big radio turned all the way up it would jump up to 1100 degrees at idle. The boost would also fluctuate from 4-5 psi at idel to 1-2 with the cb keyed.

I also don't know if the CB caused this problem, but he had a Triple Dog installed and he returned the truck to stock, but at idle if you smashed the gas it still billowed black smoke. I am not sure if the CB hurt the truck or sensors in any way, but it is very possible running that amount of wattage.

So the moral of the story is be very careful with your CB.

Also we are working on a revision for the current board that won't have problems with any radio even an illegal one. For those of you that had a cb problem we will be asking for beta testers in a few weeks.

Since it was also mentioned in the post, we will also be releasing a module that won't do fuel pressure... ... ... ..... for those that want timing and fuel stretch. I don't have a release date, but we have Alpha units running around.

Hope that helps.

Quad

Thanks Quad.

My CB is a stock Cobra 29 CB (4w) and it would kill the engine with a low voltage fuel sensor code. I have gotten it down to a mild stutter using 4 of the rf chokes.

If you do a search on my name you will see I started a thread on this subject last month. I would definitely like to be a beta tester on the revised board.

My work email is -- email address removed --

Also should I try sending in my harness for the cold weather issue or wait for one of the beta units?

Thanks

Quad I to am having issues with the box and my CB and have had since day one. I, like Cappleman I have a bone stock cobra 29 and I have put 3rf chockes on and have it down to just a stumble now. I also would like to be involved in the testing of the new product to solve the problem. Thanx

Jim

I also have cb problem, stock cobra radio, powered from a painless wiring kit mounted in rear under seat storage wired straight to battery. went from stalling out to running rough when mike is keyed with chokes

I will re hook everything back up and give it a shot. My box is in the cab. And yes I would be interested in your new box, Quad. Can you tell us will it be in the same HP range as the Xzilliraider? Or More? Thank You for your help.

I removed the box and installed the bypass plug, and still had the driveability problem. I'd let the clutch out and give a little pedal, nothing, little more, nothing, and then a surge forward. I removed the harness and all was good.

Quad-

Thanks for the update. Seeing as I have one of the first harnesses, I think it's wise for me to send it in and have it checked out. I really miss the power I had with the Xzillaraider, even on the 60 setting. I'd like to run it again.

I have about quit trying to use my CB. stock radio 4 rf chokes still kills the truck. guess I will try to wire directly to the battery, and that's it. If the new module will fix this, Quad, I would be intersted in trying one. Really miss being able to use the CB. JP
