My truck started to act strange a couple of days ago. It acts like it is hunting or missing a little bit. I noticed at 65 miles an hour the RPMs are bouncing a little, a few tenths back and forth. I can hear it also. Sounds like a bad spot on a tire. Then this morning for the first time the idle was higher than normal when I put it in park 1100 rpms. Any clues any one? (TPS)?

Do you have an auto or stick? If it is the auto (47RE), then it is probably the TC slipping. There is a recent thread here that talks about electrical pluses/spikes (i. e. bad grounds), causing the problem. do a search and hopefully you can find it, (can't remember exact thread). Claim they can slove it by cleaning battery terminals and a little voodoo?:--)

It sounds like what happened before I lost my VP44. High idle for a few months and then it had a rolling idle for a couple of weeks. It smoked pretty bad at full throttle for a year before that. When it quit it was running OK, I pulled off the freeway and the truck shut off.

I guess my injector pump does get its fair share of abuse. I just started using a fuel conditioner 2 tanks ago to prolong its life. hmmm?

Ok I started the troubleshooting phase. I removed the cover off of the throttle assy. There is a set screw, set at the factory for the accelerator position sensor. My question? Is the throttle lever supposed to rest on that screw at idle or is the 1/8 inch gap there causing my high idle? The cable going to the speed control servo seems to be the one that is tight not letting it return to rest at the set screw if it is supposed to rest there. Am I on the right track?
