I guess the old gal sat longer than I thought, but I had to jump start her this morning.

Got it running, no problems, but now the emergency brake light and ABS light are on all the time. I unhooked both batteries at the same time, thinking it would reset the computer, but that didn't help. They are still on. Will it hurt anything to drive it like this? I was going to take her out for a 30 mile highway run to charge the batteries.

I only had the batteries unhooked for about 15 or 20 seconds. Was that long enough?

Any other ideas?

We are going to town in a few weeks and I will get some new batteries. These were installed 10/14 and won't hold a charge if not driven every couple weeks or more.

Thanks,

Steve

Get good batteries in it and then worry about it. Bad batteries: low voltage and excessive currents attempting to charge dead batteries can wreck havoc on electronics specifically from "brownouts". Consider AGM batteries that will hold their charge for 1 year vs. the 30 days of the flooded batteries unless you can get an automatic trickle charger on it during the long storage times.

Consider the brake warning lights mean it and your brakes don't work! Never know when a critter has lunch on wires, hoses, etc. Parking brake on?

The parking brake was on while parked. Off now and light still pn. I don't think the brake hub is frozen because the truck will easily roll down our gently inclined driveway.

Got the charger running on the passenger battery now.

The E-brake light is controlled by a switch on the kick pedal arm. The ABS may/may not reset when you drive the truck. Have to get up to 20 or 30 MPH. bg
