Hey BIG, any plans on eating at the Irma while your there? I know it's a bit on the tourist side of things (what isn't up there any more), but the craftsmanship and the history of that bar is out of this world.

those arent the falls I was talking about. But those are pretty too.

The pictures with the river look like where I might expect to see moose. I always see at least a couple when I go over there. And I never fail to see at least a couple of black bears up close. Some times a grizz.

Where and what is an Irma? Pard. Some of the Park Rangers that came to our campfire sing-around's have made some enquires for Jim my BIL and I to play at a local water hole in Jackson WY. http://milliondollarcowboybar.com/ next weekend (I couldn't tell ya what day THIS IS :-laf) FIL/MIL are coming down for a visit and look after Danny so us middle age want to be cowboys and Indians can go out to let us do our howling and the gal's to shake their sugar shakers for a night or two. Tell me more about an IMMA but got to go sing for the wife and her sister at our fire right now we are staying close to home tonight kind of tuckered from all the hiking.

We have seen black bears they are pretty much like stray dogs here, We have seen 3 Grizz bears but at long distance thru spotting scopes (that's close enough for me) and a few wolves that are FANTASTIC to view, there was something in a field at a distance that we couldn't tell what was down but the wolves ate on it for a couple of days thru our scopes. The Park Rangers said that the moose are on the west side of the park along the Gibbons River (I think that's the name)

Where and what is an Irma

Is the Irma not the big hotel in Cody Wy ? If it is, it is very cool.

When my girls were little, we stopped to look at a river (I forget which one). I went upstream maybe 100 yards. When I turned around, I saw a wolf peeping out my wife and the kids from just behind a tree. Should have seen me go into Davey Crockett mode.

Another time when just one of my daughters and I were there, we came around a corner coming into camp. ( we were in the truck). There was a big ol grizzly just sitting in the field not more than 20 or 30 yards from us. He was looking at a butterfly. All of a sudden the butterfly just flew away, and the big ol griz go up and ran after it just waving his head back and forth. Almost made you want to get out and give him a big hug.

Yeh, the Gibbon. You should be able to see moose there either very early in the morning, or in the evening.

You got me thinkin'. I havnt been there for 3 or 4 years. Im going on a trip next month. I think I may just vector myself thru YS on the way home.

Nice pictures BIG. GF and I were in Yellowstone about 6 years ago and we both remember those stairs. GF more than me as heights bother her a bit :), especially the stairs with the grip strut that you can see thru. But the waterfalls are like you say, you can just stand there and watch them, not much needs to be said.

Yep, Irma is a hotel/restaraunt in Cody. It was built and operated by Buffalo BilI, and he named it after his daughter. He took his wild west shows that he had done all over the country and performed at the hotel. They must have been a pretty big hoot because Queen Victoria came all the way over to stay at the hotel and watch the shows and she donated the money to have the bar built. It's solid cherry IIRC and is pretty dang neat.

Don't know if we can make Cody Pard, the group has decided to take the day off from hiking and the MASS amount of people and kick back and watch Danny do some fishing from our camp our legs are pretty used up from the hikes we have taken. And the people well it never ceases to amaze me HOW STUPID THEY CAN GET!!! Danny and I came back from our AM game spotting expedition some person from Utah thought that they wanted to take a look at a stream/river down in a VERY deep canyon. The most used way of doing this is to find a turnout of which there are MANY and walk back or just look over the edge (the turnouts are there for a reason). This DIMWIT stops his Toyota Corolla on a 2 lane BLIND TURN in the MIDDLE of 1 lane!!!!!!!!!!!! to take a look over the edge. I couldn't tell the guy and his girl what I really wanted to because of my young Pard ( he knew what I was thinking im sure) because even a 10 year old said that's pretty dumb aint it BIG?

We have made a game out of STUPID STUFF LICENSE PLATE'S the following is what we have come up with by state ( we have other categories)

Most stupid driving maneuvers

1 Utah (not just because of this one)

2 Colorado

3 Montana

4 Calif

5 Idaho

Most disrespected drivers

1 Colorado

2 Calif

3 Utah

4 Wisconsin

5 Arizona

Glad ya like them Rich, I sure took a look at the big toggle bolts that held the stairs to the side of the rock, rock would be a subjective term THAT'S MOSTLY SANDSTONE!!!! in that canyon

Where does Japan factor in with all the bone head stunts?:-laf

Where does Japan factor in with all the bone head stunts?:-laf

D4L

The Japanese driving ability's are ALL TO WELL KNOWN !!! So we wont delve into that to very much, The disturbing part to ME anyway is the availability and ease of which ANY person from another country can DRIVE in the U. S. We were taking in one of the sites and got to talking to a couple from Australia. I asked how did you get here? from Salt Lake (lick) they drove. They went to Budget rent a wreck gave them a passport and Driver License and off they went!! I asked any problems with the different types of drivers? They said that in Salt lick the drivers are the most rude, tailgating, cut you off SOB'S on the planet!!! and they were on a around the world trip. Other than that the fuel prices were great!!!! Penny is the money conversion expert in our family, She asked how much a liter? they told her and she figured it out to be $7. 45 per gal they are on the Imperial measurements so they get like 1. 2 gals for that price, and other than you folks driving on the WRONG side of the road and him trying to shift the rent a car with the door handle its not that much different. They did say that the rent a wreck company made them carry more insurance that what you or I would have had to.

Now for your question about the Japanese!! We are in my FIL's motor home and the thing is NOT MEANT to be in a US National Park without hookups, its not that its to large because we have a 40ft spot with a side by side double spot. We drove pulling Penny's Audi in a trailer, we unloaded the Audi and left the trailer in an overflow parking lot and parked the car in our site. I have to dump the holding tanks often (still not a problem) I went to dump the tanks and some Orientals OF SOMEKIND had came in and took the spot across from us. I pulled up with the bus to back in our spot and watched them for at least 10 min fool around with trying to get the rent a car OVER THE LOG STOP BARREIRS IN THE CAMP SPOT not next to them like everyone else but OVER THEM, that car is NEVER going to be right any longer. When it came time to visit the park they fired it up TORE OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVERS DOOR SKIN trying to make the turn to go out GOING THE WRONG WAY!!!!

They got it going out the wrong way and ran into a FINE, EASY GOING GUY FROM Arkansas. I have had a problem with most of the Asian Culture sense my High School trip to South East Asia, I can get by, by not saying anything to them and leave it at that. BUT THIS GUY from Arkansas called them names and slur's THAT I HAVE NEVER HEARD :-laf Penny/Louise/Jim said Gee BIG he likes them as much as you do, but knows FAR MORE WORDS AND NAMES TO CALL THEM THAN YOU DO!!!! :-laf They got some firewood for a campfire at $6. 50 for a bundle that I would use as kindling to get our fire started, it wasn't going to be a long campfire. One of the guy's took a Pretty large jug of BBQ starter fluid and put most if not all of it on the wood. Jim my BIL said BIG YOU GOT TO SEE THIS!!!! When he put a match to it the flare up was NOT TO BE BELEIVED :-laf he stood up and started slapping his face, so I can only guess he HAS NO EYEBROWS to speak of :-laf:-laf:-laf

Who needs the WONDERS of the WORLD when ya have entertainment LIKE THAT!!!!!

We are going to stay in our spot this evening and look at the stars thru Jim's telescope it promises to be a good nite for it, and HOPE for some further fun from our ORENITAL people. :D
