Bought mine for the -99 , at 160k the #53 bit me. Bought an 02 and with 60 miles on it, my trans shop moved it over. Bill answered a tech question on a SATURDAY. Total miles , well over 300k, some towing, but mostly carrying tools, parts etc. Two "hickups" of which one was snapping the input shaft in Vegas, at 1am. Stuff happens.

Would I again, you ask. In a heartbeat...

Same as everyone else. A friend and I drove up to Chips Trans in TN around four years ago to get a full DTT Trans and TC minus the output shafts on both trucks. Bill said it was a good idea to get the output shafts but we just didn't have the money at the time. John did a great job and Chip and his crew were great.

My buddy broke his stock output shaft a few months later doing something stupid. Bill sent him a new shaft and in less then a week he was rolling. I broke mine a year later and called DTT, told them I was stupid and in a few days a new overdrive unit arrived. I did put it in myself and told them I was. When I put it back together I nicked the parking rod and every so often if I park on an incline it won't shift out of park. Called Bill again and he said TOLD YOU TO BE CAREFUL! Yep, he did. Not a big deal as long as I remember not to bind it up.

I just ripped my flexplate into two pieces a month ago and again called DTT. This time I took it to PowerByPoole and let Olee do the work. He put in a new Billet Flexplate that wasn't an option a few years ago and I'm out having fun again.

DTT is GREAT. They keep my power to the ground. The only problems I've had are from me and also stock parts that are not designed to handle the TQ these trucks put down.

Sorry you guys couldn't make it to IRP 06. I was hoping to thank you in person. God bless and I hope the family is much better.

I'll have to say that mine has stood the test as well. Two years running absolutely no breaking what soever and 1 year of that has been over 600hp. The funny thing is, my transmission wasn't even built to do that and it held it with ease. I have had a problem with converter drain back for a long time but we just can't seem to figure that out. However, my transmission kicks major *** and it's all DTT.

Bill, Stefan, and John Isaac's at Floor It all went way beyond just good customer service on my truck. I appreciate it every bit of it.

The moral to the other side of the story is "if you ask the expert for advise - you should follow it", or "if you choose not to follow their advise - at least have them do the work".

I was so glad to here Stefan's reply, "the other side of the story". My DTT was done by Tim Barber in Norfolk, VA, just before he introduced TRE Diesel Performance sometime last summer. After I got home I had a minor issue because the trans was never reflashed and the 1-2 shift was way to early because of not having the reflash. Once that was resolved at my local to PA sealer I couldn't get the cabel adjustment quite right (note that I live 6 hours away from Tim) Tim was very free with his time on the phone and really helped me, to help him troubleshoot things over the phone. We got it close enough for me to live with until I was able to get down on a Saturday. Bill was very helpful and available, when he wasn't in the shop he called back within 20 minutes - of course because Tim was so available I only spoke with Bill twice at his (Bill's) insistance. So, when I was able to get to Tim's shop he installs two new solenoids (no charge), checks the bands, refills the fluid. Then, test ride, then Tim under the truck to "tweak" the cable mount, and test ride again, and again, and again, as many times as it took until I was satisfied. Tim had two other customers that arrived while, mine was on the lift and I was first for the day. I kept asking if he needed to get to them? Tim explained that "they are first, right after you, this trip you took and my time here is all about you and getting the trans to your satisfaction". I felt a bit guilty but at the same time very pleased. Now that's Customer Service!

Of course I'd DTT it again. :D

Most places are happy to talk to you if your willing to spend money. When in comes to warrantee work, there not making a living.

I just recently sent my 2004r tyranny for an rebuild for some High Hp. I did allot of research about the parts it take to build it up. When I start asking allot of question to the shops on what there going to do to make it last. They seem to loose interest in selling me something. I think some of these places want to charge like there putting $1500 in parts in there transmission and not! So when you start asking what exactly there going to replace, I get the feeling I’m getting charge big money for small amount of HP part and Labor. I took it to a local place. Told them what I was going to do, and ask him if it was going to last. He said it would. So if it don't He's getting it back.

I was thinking about putting a DTT transmission for my truck three years ago. I called them and they sent me to a DTT rebuilder in MI. I called this guy. I just wasn't impressed. Sounded like a lot of money for a little bit of work, and a few trick parts. I knew my converter was bad. So I try to ask about just buy a DTT converter. He didn't what to do just that, but putting a used Converter he had for 300 or 400 with synthic oil was just fine. Or all new for $3500 plus and I would have to wait weeks to get my transmission back because he didn't want to sell me the on he had in stock.

So I put a cheap low stall converter and a transgo shift in it, been working great ever sence. $450 total cost

This is not saying I would never buy from DTT when my transmission takes a Dump.

I had my DTT installed by Scott at Mass Diesel a few months ago. Totally problem-free and I think it's great. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but I know what I don't know. I've never had any dealings with DTT directly. I feel sure if I ever did have a problem it would never get beyond Scott. Seems to me DTT is a great company with a superior dealer network. The type of shops whose advice is well worth listening to. There's a few good transmission companies out there, and DTT is definitely one of them. My money was wisely spent with them.

There are two sides to every story and usualy they are quite different.....

I have had 45K trouble free miles of abusing my DTT transmission. I beat the snot out of it and continue to run more HP/TQ than I told Bill I was going to run through it. When I break it I will be replaced with another fine DTT transmission.

This post dictated by Joel Hardin, and written by him.

Wow this has been fun watching this post over the last few days. This was the reason that I waited as long as I did to post. I knew that I was going to get a lot of negitive feed back. But was also hoping to get some feed back from DTT. And I did so that was good. I knew before getting in to this that going up against DTT who has a great reputation, was going be like paddling up crap creek. Enytime you stick out your neck you better be prepared to get swung at. I knew when I started this project it would be hard. I paid cash for this truck and every part on it. Of course accept for what I owe DTT. If I was cheap I would of not asked for the best or expected it. In one year I went through 1 6speed and 2 five speeds and several clutches. And decided I would try an Auto. I could not find any body in 500 miles that wanted to take on the conversion probly a good reason why. I figured if I bought everything brand knew wiring harness, PCM, ECM, the list goes on and on those of you that have temped this project know what I am talking about. And none of these parts are cheap. I am not a mechanic, nor pretend to be. I am a contractor and deal with people and problems everyday and sometime crap happens.

If anyone would of took on this project and bought a bad main wiring harness and those of you who have had to chase down electrical problems know it is like looking for a needle in a haystack this usually leads to lots of hours and even more money if you can twist some ones arm into taking it on. At times I feel like my luck is not so great. I don’t like wasting money, but I also know you have to pay to play. Bill did warn me and I wish I had just bought me another truck with a auto in it because it would of cost the same. I would just have two trucks. Hind sight is 20/20 or maybe 20/70 I don’t always learn the first time.

As for the secretary, wife, girlfriend, daughter, mother, this has nothing to do with her. Bill and Stephan both knew I wanted to talk to them. I don’t know about you but as a contractor I have people that owe me thousands of dollars at any giving time of the month. If I not being paid for something, or if someone is not satified I want to know why. And if someone has a problem with me they don’t want to talk to enybody accept me, who installed or did the job, that’s just me. Many times I have started jobs that turned for the worst and sometimes spend hundreds of man hours that were not reinburst. Lots of times you don’t know what you are getting into but you still finish what you start. Lets say every thing DTT said is completely true with no stretching of the truth. I did take the truck to them and they put their blessing on it before it left regardless of preveious problems and they were the last to touch it. So you would think it should be perfect. As for the wiring, air compresser, watermeth , and electric fans that were not even fininsh being hooked up. Truck was going to be hauled back. When I called them the last time they didn’t know what the problem was. could have been something small as far as they knew. I never told them I would not pay. It is hard to premeditate stealing from someone if you don’t even know how much you are stealing. The money I owe them is a small drop in the bucket. I don’t need hand outs from any one. I can take care of my own. When someone owes me money I call them, take them to small claims, or turn it into a credit beauro. When you call someone about a problem and they are rude to you, you are less likely to bend over and give them your money when it is the only leverage you have. This could have been settled over the phone very easily. I would of rather Bill or Stefen to call and say pay me, were not going to do anything more for you, we wont stand behind our product. At least I would know where we stood. This whole deal is unfortante for all parties involved. I think for the way I feel I have been very nice, sorry this is the way things went. As for the 100 hrs. on the phone. At 8 hours a day five days a week that’s over two weeks straight on the phone. Now that’s dedication I really do appreciate Bills and Stefan’s time spent and they were really nice when I was up there including Shanti. I don’t hate any of these folks. And if Stefan or Bill want to call me I still owe you money. And dont worry I am not asking for thing, I will not take this matter any further. Just chalk it up to experiance.

Joel Hardin I am proud of you, will sometimes.

This thief and liar is signing out. Peace.
