Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Fuel Leak - HELP!!!!!!!

I finished installing the fuel pump relocation kit from Genos, on my neighbors 2001 truck. At the same time, I installed the low pressure fuel light. I bled the fuel system, turned the key on and the light came on, as expected. After starting the truck, the light does not go out. I can get on a creeper and feel the fuel pump running. I am guessing a fuel filter, bad electric pump or bad pressure sender. I got to thinking, I have another low pressure light kit that I am going to install on my 04. I will try fuel filter first and pressure sender next. If the electric pump is bad, where is the quickest place to get one? I know there is an article about these pumps in a back issue of TDR. I am against the clock, since the neighbor is leavinfor Texas on Saturday morning. Thanks for the help.

My guess would be bad lift pump. Borrow a pressure gauge and check the real pressure, i am not a fan of the lightie thing. . The filter change is a good idea if it has not been changed in a while.
A cummins shop or freightliner dealer will have the stock one, which is a pos, IMO.
I went through 4 of them before going to this.
Glacier Diesel Power - Product Detail
No need for a bypass and it works great with a life warranty.
If your under the gun you wont have time to order unless your close to glacier, if you call he may be able to overnight, a few bucks more then stock, but not in the long run. Good luck.

What Dirk said about the idiot light. You really don't know what's happening.

I've got Vulcan's BigLine & relo kit, installed it 2 years ago (can't say enough good things about Vulcan's customer service, BTW. ) I got a little under 2 years, and better than 45,000 miles out of the first Carter pump there. Once this one croaks, I'll put the Airtex pump on, maybe a Walbro.

Here is the update. I swapped pressure switches and the light did not go out. The owner changed his fuel filter a few weeks ago. I had access to a used fuel pump and installed it. Started the truck up, light stayed on for 4 or 5 seconds and light went out. This made me a believer in the low pressure light kit. If this pump goes out, I will talk him into a gerotor style pump. Thanks to all for the help.

166000 miles and two factory lift pumps. First one went out at about 80000 and I put the second one on with a vulcan relocation kit and it is still going strong with 16 psi at idle and pulls down to 13 psi at wot with my 10000 lb fifth wheel in tow. Some of us have all the luck and now that I have said that I will probably be replacing the lift pump. I did install a pre filter on the truck the same time I put the second lift pump on at the suggestion of a retired trucker and I believe that is what is saving the lift pump since I change it every oil change.

Just wanted to add that the VP44 was changed at 3000 miles at the suggestion of Chrysler 5 star and it now has 163000 on it and running flawlessly. The hunting problem that I was plagued with for about 100000 miles was cured with a 12. 50 noise filter and it is shifting like a brand new transmission and even stays locked up on decel to about 1200 rpm or when I tap the brake you gotta love it.
