I added the cool down timer last night and all was good. Then when I went to leave work the truck popped the check engine light at start-up.

When I cycled the key, I got the following:

67 11

a4 26

ac 02

00 00

Anybody have a clue what this is all about?

ee,

the 480 code IS caused by the cooldown timer.

there is a fix by harold bowers. simple and gets rid of the code.

more info to come

Hope he gets back to me

Muddy,

I wrote Herold an e-mail, I sure hope he gets back to me. I brought it to the dealer today, and it was interesting. The service manager came over and grillled me about the box I had removed before I came in. I told him he was nuts, there were no boxes for the 600 yet.

Glad to see he wasn't up to date. Anyways, I guess all I can do is wait.

Thanx.

i will see harold today. i will tell him to check email. maybe get a pic posted too along w/ instrs

EEngle,

Did you remove the cool-down timer before you went in? I connected mine to #28 and #25 (I think, anyway it was near #28) and it has been working fine other than the 4 min. setting actually delays for 5. 5 min. I may ask H. about changing out a resistor myself vs sending it back. I mostly use the 2 min. setting, so no big deal.

I just spoke to Herold (10:00am central). He said he has 1 other timer on a 600 and it did the same thing.

He is sending me a diagram of a new wiring pattern. He said it needs to go to the relay.

I will try it tonight and post tomorrow.

Thanx for help.

I took the timer off because it was my first experience with this service department. I'm glad I did. The busted my balls about the AFE. Then he kept asking if I had a box on the truck.

Anyways, the p0480 code has been common, but the check engine light and the wastegate error are new to the 600. Herold is unsure of what is going on.

The dealer told me the P0480 popped first and in response the new wastegate (on the 600's only) came in with an error that caused the check engine light to come on.

I put a timer on my early 04 and it set code po480. since

then i have installed 3 or 4 more on 03's. they all set the

po480 code. I solved the problem on mine and the others

by adding a jumper wire from the blue wire over to empty

relay plug #69 with blade connector in slot of empty relay

toward passenger side of vehicle.

I used fuse #17 for the red wire. and fuse #28 for the blue

wire. that fixed the po480 code on mine and the other 03's.

if you email me I will send you a picture of the jumper wire

set up. hbowers -- email address removed --

Jumper Wire

hbowers,

Thanks for the reply. I talked to the maker of the box the other day and he suggested the same jumper wire. I jumped it Thursday night, and the code has not reappeared.

I am giving it a few days, then I am going to take the button and the LED out and drill them into the dash, and hide the box under the dash (just a little cleaner look).

Dealer

TWest,

I have always went to Bernards Northtown in Wi. , he was always really cool and had a lot of mods on his own truck. Now that I moved to Isanti, I tried John Hiersh's Cambridge motors. They are great, but I think the service department might be a bit of a pain. I am going to give them another try, but if it doesn't work, I will be at Blaine. It's right on 99th right? If that's the one, they did my lift pump in my 2001. They were very friendly, and they are right on my way to work.

Are you going to the TDR gathering on May 8th?

TDR Gathering

I am going to try my hardest to be there. Seems like evey time I plan something, my work plans a trip for me.

I'm 99% sure I will be there. Have you had experience with the shop it is being held at? Do you know if the will dyno trucks?

I will have the new VA box (duration) and would like to see what it does.

This will be my first year,I think , I am going to try and stack the new VA with my E-Z . Trend at DSG was going to reach VanAaken to see if this is possible.

Stacking

TWest,

It is possible to stack them. Which EZ do you have?

When are you getting your VA?

I should have mine on Thursday.

Did you install your own gauges?

EEngle,Fireman PM me and said he has 65hp VA and was going to be gone until the 22nd,I am still waiting for Trent from DSG to get back to me on the duration box. I have the level six EZ 85hp and 200 lbs torque with over 25k on truck.
