Prodigy Brake Controller question

I just installed a new Prodigy brake controller and used the adapter for the factory tow package. Is there suppose to be power to the brake controller with the ignition off?

Think it stays on for about 15 minutes after you turn off the key. When you first start the truck it will now power up till you touch the brakes.

My Prodigy will shutdown after ten minutes of not touching the brake. The key does not have to be in the ignition. I have seen it do this and it is also in the paperwork that came with my Prodigy. Hope this helps.

It threw me a curve (made me think I crossed some wires or something ) but it's normal. Been very pleased with its operation.

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like it's the normal operation. Just picked up our trailer last night so I haven't had a chance to adjust it yet.
