Laredo 25RL 5th-wheel?

Wheel chocks

I am getting ready to install a Prodigy brake controller in my truck.

Looks as though it will fit nicely where the ashtray is once you remove it. However, upon reading over the install directions they warn against installing the controller within 12" of any RF generating items (cell phones, two way radios). This complicates things a little. Has anyone had any experience with interference of the brake controller due to this? I really want to run my cell phone out of the cigarette lighter that is next to the ashtray.

Thanks in advance

Prodigy brake control

I think the most problems that people have is not reading the instructions. This alone will answer most questions. The Prodigy is a top brake control and their inclosed instructions are good. Adhere to them.

I have mine installed in the ash tray slot. It works fine, no problem.

I wish I had time to fabricate a spacer to fill the rest of the slot. It doesnt look bad as it is. It could look just a little better.

The controller works great. When you adjust per instructions the first time you hook up to your trailer, write down the setting.

If it is a travel trailer make sure all the goods in pantry are secured before you do the braking adjustments:)

There is a pic of my ashtray slot install in my readers rigs. I too, still have to figure out what to do with that cover to clean it up. The location is about as good as you can ask for. By the way, I have the 6 spd trans. and the shifter is in the 1st gear. Well clear of the unit.

The only experience I have with RF interferece was on another Teconsha model several years back. I was towing and following a relative. To communicated, he gave me a hand held CB radio. When I keyed the mike, the brake output went to full scale. I thought my transmission was going out until I was informed the lights on the brake controller indicated full output.

I have the proidgy now and have used the talkabout radios without incident. However, I have not used the hand held CB with it.
