Lost left turn signal at 7-way on 04...

Added Reverse Lights

I installed a prodigy in my truck today. I used the Tekonsha wiring harness from the factory plug to the brake controller. I have checked the harness connections and they seem solid.

Now for my question. The Prodigy displays a single red dot at all times (key on or off or out). It never displays the "n. c" like the instructions say it should at start up. I can scroll through the boost levels and then the unit will display ". . " I tried calling Tekonsha, but of course they aren't there on Saturdays. So, Is this normal for a Prodigy? I haven't hooked up to my trailer yet to see what it does with it, but wanted to make ask to see if its even working right.

Thanks guys.

Wes

I know that with mine it gives me a "n. c. " for no circuit and a ". c. " for circuit. If you have some gator clips on a wire you can jump connections and see if your unit will give you the ". c. " (i think there is a dot in front of the c). I have seen the ". . " signal but I don't remeber what the circumstances were. I hope this helps.

okay... I just went and checked... the ". . " is for open circuit. Once you connect the lead the display will give you either the ". c. " or the "n. c. ". If you get the "n. c. " you need to clean all of your terminals and try it again. I used some battery terminal cleaner, then I cleaned it out with some nc brake cleaner and then gave it a healthy squirt of dielectric grease in the lead and in the terminal.

Tekonsha Light

It will stay on for a couple of hours, but will go out; at least, mine did.

Thanks Guys, yeah the light did finally go out while I was in typing this thread

Dave, when you say I need to "connect the lead" are you referring the to wiring harness lead to the brake controller or the trailer connection? What does yours display when you do not have a trailer hooked up?

I did finally figure out that, with my foot on the brake, if I push the manual slide I will get the "n. c" display. I'm probably over reacting, but it didn't seem to behave the way the instructions said it should.

Go to there web site and click on "Trouble shooting" and see what that says. Mine goes out after 15 min. and when the brake is applied opens the circuit and two dots are displayed and a quick 'nc' when connected "C". Just went to there web site and there is no fix listed for the stated read out. better call them monday. plug it in and see what it does.

For what its worth - The Prodigy controller is the the best one I have ever owned and I've had at least * other ones - have a good one

Yeah, I was able to go out and hook up the trailer. After I did that, it did display the "n. c" after I removed the trailer. I think its working, it just didn't behave like the instructions said it should.

Thanks for all the help. Only thing I'm going to miss with the old controller is being able to flash the trucks brake lights (without a trailer) with the manual slide to get the tailgators to back off!
